Stobswood Welfare v Alnwick Town 02.03.24 Northern Alliance League

Alnwick Town are back in League action taking on Stobswood Welfare. This ends a run of home games where the Wick have won two League games and lost one and won two cup games. Alnwick have a number of games in hand over leaders `Wallington but have slipped eight behind them. They will be hoping to pick up three points at Stobswood as they beat them 3-0 earlier this season. Wallington have not lost a league game since they were beaten by Newcastle Chemfica way back in September but they they away two tough away cup ties next week. Alnwick will be hoping that their runs in the cups will upset their rhythm in the League.

Re: Stobswood Welfare v Alnwick Town 02.03.24 Northern Alliance League

Yet again Alnwick Town attempts to play a league match were thwarted by the weather. Stobswood’s pitch was deemed unplayable and unless the north east gets a spell of very dry weather clubs are going to struggle to pull in all the outstanding games. Alnwick have fifteen league games and at least one cup game to play with only eight Saturdays left before the start of May. Two games a week with no further postponements could see Alnwick complete their season before the usual end date. Alnwick do not have any scheduled midweek games in March so the plan must be to play at least twelve games in April or extend the season into May.
