Alnwick Town v Newcastle Independent 30.03.24 NFAPD

Alnwick are back in league action on Saturday with a game against Newcastle Independent. This will be a vital game to win if Alnwick have a chance of winning the title. The Wick have games in hand over Wallington but will need to win their crunch match away at Wallington in April to stand a chance of securing the title.

Re: Alnwick Town v Newcastle Independent 30.03.24 NFAPD

Alnwick Town dispatched Newcastle Independent in a pleasant return to form to keep their title hopes alive. Initially it looked like Alnwick were again going to struggle against a mother resolute defence. However Jamie Clark struck in the first half with a thirty yard effort that took a couple of deflections on its into the net. After the break Alnwick piled on the pressure and Clark was there again to take the ball past the keeper to score into an empty net. A more relaxed Alnwick now started to turn on the style and despite Clark leaving the field with a hamstring pull they score a third through Luke Molloy after Simon Farrier had a shot saved.
A much better performance with more creativity being displayed and than man Clark making the difference when it mattered.
On Wednesday Alnwick game with West Moor Jesmond was switched to the 3G at Greenfield to try and beat the wet weather. However the weather and the incessant rain made even the plastic unplayable despite it looking OK from my house. With the weather looking wet for the foreseeable future many teams including Alnwick are looking forward to a period of serious fixture congestion.
