Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

It's 2 40pm and the ground is now starting to fill. There's plenty of Ilkeston fans in the ground.  I'm in the benches behind the top goal so not a good view of the far goal. but as always we'll do our best to be as factual as we can be.

Heanor's gate on Tuesday night was 94. They're hoping for 500 plus today.

If the game ends in a draw it's a replay at the NMG this Tuesday

Ilkeston first to attack.. I'm having to stand because the view is obstructed.

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

This is the biggest crowd I've seen at Heanor. There must be over a thousand.  Shot by Walker whistles wide.Ilkeston support is fantastic. Another Walker shot flies over      0-0   6 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Whitehurst and keeper clash going for through ball. Goalkick rightly given.  Nothing much from Heanor's attack so far. The ferocious wind is playing a big part.      0-0     10 minutes.

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Ball swept across Ilkeston goal with no one on the end. That was Heanor's first chance. Free kick to Ilkeston to the left of the area. Bennett hits the Heanor wall.  Another free kick into the Heanor box is cleared.      0-0         18 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

The ball is swinging massively in the wind making it very difficult for both sides to play. Good defending by Heanor's Stuart Baker.   PENALTY TO ILKESTON

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Ilkeston fans are in full cry now. Not that they haven't been the whole time.  Now its a Heanor free kick in a good position but it's fired over..   Bennett's centre is glanced on but keeper does really well to save.     1-0    28 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Heanor haven't created serious threat so far but anything can happen with this wind.  Bowler tries a long shot but Mitchell saves easily. Another ball sails out of the ground.  Good effort by Richie-Smith but Mitchell is equal to it. Good little spell for Heanor.       1-0     39 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Great shot by Dixon produces  a fine save. Corner for Heanor. Heanor player gets a shot in which Mitchell manages to block. That was close.  Reeves almost scores at the other end after getting round the keeper but Walmsley clears off the line.  Brilliant defending.     IT'S HALF TIME    ;  Heanor Town  0  Ilkeston Town  1

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

It's a terrific atmosphere with so many Ilkeston people here. It's just a pity about the wind. Ilkeston dominated most of the half but Heanor came back well in the final stages. .    Either side could win this.

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Brilliant run and cross by Lavell White in the first minute but no one there.  It's difficult to see much in the far goal that Ilkeston are attacking. There's been a stoppage for something thats lasted a few minutes. Not sure what's happened.      0-1       54 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Play has now restarted. Probably up to 10 minutes to be added.  Big Ilkeston appeal for hand ball in Heanor area but ref gives corner which is cleared.  Ilkeston pressing just now.   Good headed effort by Holloway as he gets to the ball before Mitchell.     1-0      67 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Good parry by Mitchell from piledrive.  Whitehurst replaced by Alex Marshall on 69 minutes. Dixon puts White through but it's offside.   Mitchell is seeing more of the ball .Great pass by Bennett to White but White is stopped.       1-0    74 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

Chance for Alex Marshall but its straight at the keeper. At the other end Mitchell has to come out to push the ball away.  Corner for Ilkeston comes to nothing.  Good run and shot by Reeves but it goes across the goal and out.   GOAL ILKESTON     GOAL again for Ilkeston    Two quick goals and I don't know the scorers but it's now 3-0.    after 84 minutes

Malachi is now on for Reeves.  Some Heanor fans are leaving but there's still 3 minutes plus a lot of added time. Paulo Piliero now on for Walker.  Ilkeston are now just keeping possession.    3-0     90 +1 minutes

Re: Heanor v Ilkeston (FA Vase) Live Updates

The official attendance at Heanor  was 808.   I would have thought there were more than that. It was packed solid on two sides of the ground and some people said they were queuing for 15 minutes to get in. There is no turnstile at Heanor so maybe the nice men on the gate who were taking money and recording numbers were overwhelmed by the volume of people trying to get in just before kick off.
Thank you to the Heanor officials for their hospitality and friendliness.

The stoppage during the game was apparently due to a spectator being taken ill.
