Next Saturday : the ultimate test

Next Saturday Ilkeston travel to Worcester City in what must be regarded as their biggest test yet. After losing their first two matches Worcester have gone on a run of eleven matches unbeaten so have to be the most in form team in the league. Their record over the last eleven matches is won 7 and drawn 4 scored 24 against 11. Of their 13 league matches played , 8 have been away and  5 at home. They are unbeaten at home having won 2 and drawn 3.
Jordan Harrison is their top scorer with 7 goals.

Ilkeston's management have recognised the massive importance of this game and have put in place a change  to the players match day preparations. If Worcester were to win they would be level on points with us but an Ilkeston win would  put us in a really strong position with only Sporting Khalsa then looking like serious challengers at this moment in time.  It's still early in the season and there's time for things to change but every point is vital when there's only one promotion spot.

It would be brilliant to have something similar to the unbelievable level of support that we had at Heanor for this game.

Re: Next Saturday : the ultimate test

Also next Saturday, there's another important game affecting the top of the league.  Sporting Khalsa are at home to Westfields.

Khalsa are five points behind us but with two games in hand so a Westfields win or a draw would do us a favour. Unfortunately after their good statt, Westfields have hit a bad patch and have failed to win any of their last five league games (3 draws and 2 defeats).

Re: Next Saturday : the ultimate test

Worcester City ground share with Bromsgrove Sporting so we will be playing on what is regarded as one of the better non league grounds with seating for 300. Once again Ilkeston have added to their squad with the signing of ex Notts County player Reece Fyfe. There is real competition for places now with several really good players not able to get into the matchday sixteen.
