Ilkeston v Brocton (League Cup 3rd round) Live Updates

There will be live updates as usual tonight. While Ilkeston try to progress further in the league cup, there is also a Premier Division match being played : Wolverhampton Sporting v Walsall Wood. There will be score updates from that game too.

Fair to say the pitch is very wet.  Walker shoots from 20 yards out and it's over the bar. McGrady breaks into the area but loses possession.       0-0   10 minutes

Walsall wood are trailing 1-0.

Ilkeston are slightly on top but Brocton are defending well.  Good break by Brocton and Mitchell  has to concede a corner.

Fyfe finds the net but ref has blown for an earlier infringement. Ilkeston are now on top. Chance for Walker but his shot goes across the goal and wide of the far post.  GOAL  Reeves on 26 minutes   2-0   Reeves picks his spot from 12 yards.

Re: Ilkeston v Brocton (League Cup 3rd round) Live Updates

Reece Fyfe is probably Ilkeston's main man so far. Nothing much from Brocton coming forward now. Good interception by Yeomans. Wedderburn-Spencer has a go from distance but it's well wide.     2-0    40 minutes

Kimmins crosses but Mitchell collects.  Ilkeston are enjoying plenty of possession. Free kick to Ilkeston on edge of area level with right hand post.  Excellent chance    GOAL  keeper saves but Hopkinson follows up to score   3-0.      45 minutes

Re: Ilkeston v Brocton (League Cup 3rd round) Live Updates

Hopkinson brought down on edge area. Marshall's shot hits the outside of the post.  Hopkinson has a shot that goes just over.   Ilkeston are Queuing up to score and its Reece Fyfe who put the ball into the net.  4-0

Brocton are now getting Frustrated.  It's a red card for Arrowsmith.     Reeves makes  5-0.

It's damage limitation now for Brocton.  Injured  Jordan Wheatley replaced by Kieran Rowland.

Now Regan Smith is booked.  Reeves and Fyfe replaced by Alex Marshall and Ryan Whitehurst.  It's one way traffic with Ilkeston looking for more goals.  Brocton's goal is having a charmed life. They've had several narrow escapes.      GOAL  JAMIE WALKER gets in and scores.      6-0.

Good defending by Mousley stops Hopkinson. Great run by Rowland after interplay with Walker but keeper cuts out his cross. Ten men Brocton can't get the ball. It's all Ilkeston.

Re: Ilkeston v Brocton (League Cup 3rd round) Live Updates

Better by Brocton.  Not getting anywhere but a nice  little spell of possession. Alex Marshall booked for a late tackle. Good effort by Wood brings a good save out of Mitchell.  At the other end Ilkeston hit the woodwork. Think it would have been an own goal had it gone in.      87 minutes

Re: Ilkeston v Brocton (League Cup 3rd round) Live Updates

Spoke with the Brocton officials after the game who were very complementary about our team. They commented that they had a lot of young players in their team but there was a gulf in class between themselves and Ilkeston's more experienced players. They said that we looked a far better side than Sporting Khalsa who they beat in the previous round. They also mentioned that their keeper on the night, Joe Geldart, was normally an outfield player.
