In the FA Trophy Newcastle came from 2-0 behind against Belper to win on penalties so I think we can now say that Newcastle are genuine promotion challengers.

So Ilkeston's match at Newcastle is big one.

Four teams are unbeaten in the NPL South East; Kidsgrove, Stamford, Newcastle and Ilkeston. Only Ilkeston are unbeaten in all competitions.
Kidsgrove and Ilkeston have been held to a draw once
Stamford and Newcastle have been held to a draw twice



Can we come away from Newcastle with our unbeaten record intact? We need to be much better than we were against Kempston Rovers

Fenton and Bennett may not be recovered from Saturday's injuries and will Nat Watson be back after his injury?

I expect Mitchell Tait and Riece Bertram to replace Bennett and Fenton.  And hopefully Nat Watson will be back.

We always play better when we need to, so I think we can stay unbeaten.

We have certainly got to watch out for this game . With us coming off a hard fought win last Sat and the big FA Cup game this Saturday we could slip up here tonight  ... Certainly hope not ..

Five minutes to kickoff.  Both teams are unbeaten so should be a close game.

Ilkeston are wearing their home kit, Newcastle are wearing  blue shirts, white shorts.

 

Thomas through ball nearly finds Goodson. Corner to Ilkeston. Good start.

Injury to Mitchell Tait results in a three minute delay.   We're down to ten. He's back on now.   Good save by Durrant from Berks     0-1     13 minutes

Big chance for Newcastle on the counter but shot goes over there bar. Newcastle corner.  Durrant collects.  Tait shot takes a deflection.  Great effort by Brown- Hill but Keeper saves.       0-1    25 minutes

Newcastle are most dangerous when Ilkeston attack.   Brown-Hill shot hits the side netting. Newcastle counter attacks are so quick        0-1     32 minutes

We're lucky to be level.  The tempo has calmed a bit now. Penalty Newcastle.  Tait gets booked   39 minutes      Goal    1-2  

Tait committed the foul. The ref let the Newcastle player go on but Durrant then saved so the ref then gave the penalty.

Exactly like the first half. Brown -Hill does well but i'ts only a corner.  Brown-Hill fires into side netting.  Brown-Hill booked for a foul.  Troke booked now.Chance for  Lee but he doesn't connect.        1-3       57 minutes

Thomas shot saved low down by keeper.  Reid finds Thomas but he skews his shot wide. Decent spell for Ilkeston.       1-3        63 minutes
