Another good surge by Kirton but he's stopped. Chase players try to get Reid sent off and they've succeeded.  Ilkeston down to ten players.   Then Goodson is clattered.  Big hold up        1-1      61 minutes

Troke free kick is just wide of left post. Troke fouled for umpteenth time.  Reid red card seemed very unjust.
Bryant replaced by Joe Wilson.  65 minutes         1-1

Re: Next up - Ilkeston Town v Chasetown : Tue 27 Oct : Live Updates

Poor ref. Never a red. Right on front of us. Clearly played the ball

Great tempo second half. But again we’ve conceded on the break. Need a defensive midfielder to snuff this kind of thing out IMO

But once more, like at Spalding, we win with ten men. Great effort second half. To say the workload being asked of the nucleus of the side who play every week it’s an excellent start to the season

Re: Next up - Ilkeston Town v Chasetown : Tue 27 Oct : Live Updates

Tuesday 27th October 2020  :  Northern Premier League - South East Division
Ilkeston Town  2  Chasetown  1
Ilkeston returned to winning ways on a cold damp night at the NMG. As against Spalding United three weeks ago, the Robins showed great character by winning with ten players. James Reid saw red with 30 minutes still to play for a less than robust tackle after half the Chasetown players put enormous pressure on the referee to produce the card. This came after Ilkeston had clawed their way back into the game after falling behind.
The first half saw Ilkeston start strongly with visiting keeper Curtis Pond blocking a Joe Maguire shot on 5 minutes. Ollie Brown-Hill’s close range effort was blocked by a defender before Pond kept out Maguire’s header. On 25 minutes, a last ditch Maguire block prevented Chasetown going ahead before a Brown-Hill snap shot was kept out by Pond. On 33 minutes Chasetown took the lead through Connor Haddaway’s header from Delarno Reid’s cross. Zak Goodson had a chance to level when one on one with Pond but the keeper was having an inspired match and denied him with another fine save.
Within three minutes of the restart Ilkeston were level with a freakish goal. Troke did well to turn and cross from wide right and the ball curled inside the far post. Chasetown were on the ropes as Ilkeston immediately pressed for a second with first Charlie Marzano going close then Troke after good work by the industrious Jack Thomas. Then came the red card for Reid which allowed Chasetown a way back into the game but before that could happen Maguire put Ilkeston in front on 68 minutes. The Ilkeston skipper did well to get on the end of a forward ball and his close range connection gave Pond no chance. Despite the extra man for the final twenty minutes, Chasetown failed to produce any major alarms. Ilkeston came closest to a late goal when Pond had to race out of his goal just beating Troke to Brown-Hill’s through ball.
