Maybe the season isn't all over

.

Maybe it's not all over.  The Hellenic League have suggested that the 2020-21 results so far be carried over to the 2021-22 season.

Survey from The FA on progressing this Season
.
As previously advised FA have now created a survey to be sent to all National League System (NLS) Clubs on how to end / progress this season. Coincidentally, this communication was received earlier today and follows on from this Hellenic League update. Each club is required to answer.

The League Hellenic Executive position on progressing this season
One of the primary objectives of The Hellenic League Executive is to see the proposed Restructuring take place and with this in mind, support the position already expressed by many of our NLS clubs. That is a desire to play the season to completion by following a summer break and restart in August / September.

This plan takes advantage of all of the effort made by our clubs and volunteers in playing our games to date in a Covid safe environment, and will offer the best chance of achieving a complete League Table. This in turn makes The FA restructuring at Steps 5&6 possible. Our Premier Division clubs then will finally see the end of the 200+ miles travel every other Saturday/Bank Holiday.

If we were simply to start again afresh in August we could be in this same position again next year, with no re-structuring to smaller footprint, with the escalating cost of travel, and struggles for player commitment. All in the background of reducing sponsorship.

PROJECT NON-LEAGUE  is the driving force behind trying to persuade clubs to reject the recommendation to declare the 2020-21 season null and void

Project Non League - Avoid Null & Void! @Projectnonleag1

We've received some questions about the #ProjectNonLeague stance on the options listed in the FA's survey to clubs. Please see our response to each option in red. We are FOR playing this season if safe to do so. We are AGAINST null & void under ANY circumstances.

Re: Maybe the season isn't all over

.

If the season is again cut short, these are my personal thoughts on promotion and relegation.

First of all, I agree that no club should be relegated. Regarding promotion, leagues should go for a solution supported by the majority of clubs.

The carry over of this season’s results so far then continue the 2020-21 season in August 2021 has a lot going for it but it goes against  the principle that every team starts in August with a clean sheet.

Promotion based on points per game will probably have the most support in our league because the outstanding teams over the last two seasons (Leek and Stamford) would be rewarded and the other teams would benefit by then having a better chance of promotion the following season.

So whilst my original thoughts were that there should be no promotion and relegation, I am now starting to come round to the proposal of Project Non-League which would allow teams to be promoted by an agreed method which in turn would allow the delayed Non-League re-organisation to finally go ahead.

Step 3-6 clubs have given their views on deciding the 2020/21 season. The FA Leagues & Alliance Committees will now consider the responses to the survey before making their recommendations to the FA Council. Any decision on the season will have to be ratified by the FA Council.
