DANIELS SUFFER DEJA VU   BY RICHARD CURTIS

Stamford saw victory snatched away from them for the second successive away game as Brighouse equalised in injury time to claim a point at the Yorkshire Payments stadium. The Daniels made the trip to Yorkshire looking to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 reverse at home the week before to Ossett United. There was a debut for Teddy Bloor who joined on loan from Mansfield Town for the rest of the season, while Kern Miller took the unfamiliar role of playing up front supported by Jon Challinor.

The first effort of the match went to Stamford when Kern Miller met a Jon Challinor cross, but his effort was tame and no trouble for Matt Smith in the home goal. Brighouse had a couple of efforts on the Daniels goal, including one from Aaron Martin but nothing that troubled Dan Haystead. Stamford took the lead five minutes before half time when Bloor was fouled on the Daniels right. Ollie Brown-Hill swung in the set piece and the ball evaded everyone for him to score his fourth goal of the season.
In the second half the home side started brightly, and Mohammed Ibrahim had an effort just wide of the goal. Five minutes in and Stamford were awarded a penalty. A Dan Haystead goal kick was chased by Kern Miller and Smith in the Brighouse goal fouled the Daniels man. Brown-Hill stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to double the Daniels lead. Stamford were really on top at this stage and they have another really good chance when Bloor played in Challinor, but his shot was blocked by Smith in the home goal. The home side got a goal back after 57 minutes when Rhys Jenkinson crossed the ball the in from the right and Martin rose above Jordon Cooke to head home past Haystead. Stamford regained their 2-goal advantage on seventy minutes when Bloor connected with a clearance from the Brighouse penalty box and he slotted goal wards which the keeper fumbled. With five minutes remaining, the home side were awarded a penalty after Mike Armstrong was adjudged to have fouled Thomas Haigh. Martin stepped up and sent Haystead the wrong way.The home side now pressed forward in numbers and in injury time Martin secured a point for the home side when he drove a shot in from the left, but Kern Miller tried to block the effort but only managed to divert the ball into the Daniels goal.
