Local Football Club wants to replace Portable Unit

..

Derbyshire football club Long Eaton United wants new canteen building

A Derbyshire football club is looking to build a new canteen building to replace the temporary, portable unit it has had for years. Long Eaton United Football Club, based at Grange Park in Station Road, has applied to Erewash Borough Council for the new building
*
If approved, the larger canteen building would also contain an office space for the club secretary.
*
Overall, the building would be more than double its current size, up from 29 square metres to 71 square metres. Part of the existing shelter, next to the current canteen, will be taken down as part of the development.
*
The borough council will make a decision on the plans in the next few months.
*
Responding to flood risk concerns, the club, through Paul Gaughan Building Consultants, says the amount of impermeable surface at the grounds would not be increased.
*
It says the building’s concrete floor would be set half a metre above the ground to sit the structure above potential flooding. It would have a ramp entrance.
*
The club says in a statement: “In terms of the danger to persons in a flooding event, the building is already in use on match days and in the week when teaching takes place at the club with the academy students.
*
“The proposed replacement building will be used for the same purposes but on a larger scale and allowing for a small office for the club’s secretary.
*
“The replacement building will not, but can, cater for an increase in the number of persons attending the site, so therefore will not put persons at greater risk.”
*
Long Eaton United Football Club competes in the Midland League Premier Division and it’s Grange Park grounds caters for up to 1,500 people. The club has a swathe of teams including an academy, kids teams from ages 4-16, girls teams and a ladies team.

Re: Local Football Club wants to replace Portable Unit

What makes mu blood boil with isnt what the want to do but how they have justify the building as flood risk . But its ok for the councils to ok Mass building of houses in possible flood risk areas plus the volume of traffic it brings . JOKE
