These have been their results so far :

Yellow for Sutton player for foul on Bennett. Bit harsh. Sutton player goes down in box after colliding with Durrant both going for a high ball.  Nothing given.   Troke fouled on edge of area wide. Reid takes, Sutton clear.       0-0     9 minutes

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

Good effort by Marsellia  but it's too high. Marsellia gets past Fenton and crosses but Shaw can't reach it.
It's a penalty for Sutton for supposed foul by Fenton.   GOAL    0-1    21 minutes.  Looked a generous decision but Marsellia scores

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

Carvell shot pushed round post for a corner by Gwilliams. But Ilkeston are not at their best. Durrant saves from Shaw.  Not much joy for Ilkeston up front.   Looks lie a back injury for Irvine.   He's back on.     0-1   36 mins

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

Sutton are on top. Ilkeston are struggling. Irvine is down again. Its nearly half time and Ilkeston have been poor.  At last Ilkeston put a move together but Goodson heads wide.

Half time  0-1 Very disappointing.

Sutton have two decent forwards in Gibson and Marselia who chase everything. Otherwise they are not that good but they're deservedly ahead.  Ilkeston were doing alright till Sutton scored but after that they have struggled.

Irvine has not come out for the second half. He is replaced by Kyle Tomlin.

Second half is underway......

Great chance for Tomlin on edge of area but he puts it wide. Great ball from reid to Goodson but Zaks shot is weak.  Better from Ilkeston.    GOAL Goodson makes no mistake this time     1-1       55 mins

Finish up hanging on but it’s 3 points after a totally different performance in the second half.

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

I missed it as well as I’ve moved house the same week as I am going on holiday!!! Utter madness but I am now ensconced in Sunny Cornwall! Ilkeston always win when I cant get. It was a joke at first but I’m getting to think I am a real jinx!!
Considering the score at half time today’s win was an excellent result. Fans who watched the game will be able to say if the performance justified the result but three points is three points and we are still in the play off places. Which is good enough for me!

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

.

We were poor in the first half. We started okay but when Sutton went ahead with the penalty, they started to control the game. For some reason we couldn't get going. The defence looked vulnerable and the forwards couldn't create decent opportunities. Fortunately the second half brought about a big improvement. Immediately we started looking dangerous and had a few chances before Zak pulled us level. When that happened Sutton's confidence drained away and it was not long before we scored again. We then should have made the game safe but the home keeper pulled off a few good saves and in the final ten minutes we had to defend. Sutton had one big chance just before the end but Ross made a fantastic save. Apart from that scare we saw the game out. It was a good three points because there will be very few easy games in this league.
Unfortunately we picked up another injury with Stern Irvine leaving the ground on crutches. With Maguire also injured it was Rashaan who moved to central defence at the start of the second half.

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

.

Sat 25th Sep 2021 - Northern Premier League
SUTTON COLDFIELD TOWN  1  ILKESTON TOWN  2
A second half brace by Zak Goodson enabled Ilkeston to recover from a half time deficit and take the points from Coles Lane. Ilkeston started well but fell behind to a Isai Marselia penalty. Once Sutton were ahead they grew in confidence and controlled the first half.
Ilkeston had a penalty shout on 16 minutes when Alex Troke went down under challenge. On 20 minutes Sutton should have scored. Marselia burst through and his inviting rolled cross just couldn’t be reached by Ryan Shaw. A minute later Sutton were awarded a penalty when Kieran Fenton was adjudged have tripped a Sutton forward. Marselia obliged from the spot. Ilkeston then failed to make a decent opportunity till just before half time when they created their best attacking move which ended with Carvell’s cross being headed wide by Goodson.
The second half brought about a vast improvement in Ilkeston’s performance and Sutton keeper Lewis Gwilliams was soon being tested. A good attack saw Kyle Tomlin place a shot wide then James Reid found Goodson whose effort lacked power. On 55 minutes Ilkeston were level. Alex Troke fed Goodson who this time made no mistake. Ilkeston were now dominant. Ollie Brown-Hill played in James Carvell whose shot looked bound for the top corner but somehow Gwilliams pushed it round the post. Gwilliams then saved a Fenton close rang header but the pressure finally told when Goodson struck again on 70 minutes. Troke’s effort brought yet anther fine save by Gwilliams but Goodson was there to slot home the rebound.  It stayed 2-1 into the final10 minutes when Sutton with nothing to lose made a late push for an equaliser. Two minutes from time they had their chance but Ross Durrant pulled off a fine save to preserve Ilkeston’s win.

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

Doesn`t sound good that Irvine was on crutches after the game , hope he is ok . I thought he was the better of the defenders just recently . A scrappy 2-1 win i suppose you take that, 3pts is 3pts after all. Cant comment on the game as i wasnt there ......

Re: Sutton Coldfield v Ilkeston : Sat 25 Sep

Stern fell awkwardly when challenging for a high ball. He tried to carry on but was obviously in too much pain to continue. Before the injury he was very solid. If he and Maguire are not fit for the next match then Rashaan Frances may have play in central defence as he did quite successfully when Stern couldn't continue.
