Belper have made a positive start with Mancinelli hitting the post and a penalty appeal turned down but it's still 0-0.

29: Good work down the left by Nelthorpe & Litchfield, and a cross that just evades the attackers. Free kick after foul on the edge of the Millers box. Mancinelli takes, beautiful curling strike just misses the top left hand corner. Belper still on top but 0-0.

Latest scores 30 minutes gone

Belper 0 Carlton 0

Alfreton 0 Leamington 0

NAILERS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS AGAINST UNBEATEN CARLTON TOWN  BY DAVID LAUGHLIN

A hat-trick of Craig Nelthorpe assists ensured Belper returned to winning ways as they brushed aside promotion hopefuls Carlton Town 3-0, writes Ethan Thatcher

A hat-trick of Craig Nelthorpe assists ensured Belper returned to winning ways as they brushed aside promotion hopefuls Carlton Town 3-0.

The Nailers needed to bounce back after a few recent disappointing results and they did exactly that with instant pressure applied to Carlton Town. Prince Mancinelli came close for the hosts early on after he received a loose ball on the edge of the box, and curled his effort onto the outside of the posts thanks to a strong hand from Kieran Preston.

Steven Beejer made his debut for the Nailers at left back and didn’t disappoint with the full back putting in several inviting crosses from the left wing. The best of which came in the 21st minute after some great linkup play on the left flank allowed the debutant to find Alex Peterson in the middle of his box, unfortunately for Belper he headed the ball well over the bar

Mancinelli again came close for the hosts in the 25th minute after he produced a wicked free kick 25 yards out from goal, which was inches away from finding the top left corner. The ‘keeper would have had little chance had the shot been on target.

The Nailers had the best chance to break the deadlock right at the end of the first half after a Brodie Litchfield cross fell perfectly to Riece Bertram, but the midfielder smashed his shot against the bar from close range and the score remained level at the tinterval.

Again the Nailers continued to dominant the second half and were rewarded for their efforts in the 68th minute after a deep Craig Nelthorpe found Danny South five yards out from goal, the skipper didn’t disappoint and firmly headed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Carlton instantly reacted after going a goal down and started to ask questions of the Nailers defence. The Millers were unlucky to not be level in the 77th minute after some great wing play gave Elliot Daniel the perfect chance to level the game from three yards out, but Ollie Battersby sensational scrambled across his line to push the pull away.

Jared Holmes then fired the loose ball into the open net, but again a piece of heroics from Todd Jordon meant the ball was blocked on the line.

Two minutes later Belper put the game to bed only after a trademark Nelthorpe in swinging free kick from the right wing found Riece Bertram free in the middle of the box. His initial effort was blocked before the midfielder smashed the rebound into the empty net.

Nelthorpe soon completed his hat-trick of assists in the 88th minute after a fine team move allowed him to have space on the left flank, the winger proceeded to fire his cross into the box where an unmarked Jonathon Margetts headed the ball into the bottom corner to put the game to bed.

It was a classy performance all round from the Nailers which contemned Carlton to their first defeat of the season.
