What a fantastic season so far for Derbyshire non-league teams and probably helped by the DFA’s decision to cancel this season’s Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Chesterfield top the National League
Matlock and Buxton top the NPL Premier Division
Ilkeston and Belper top the NPL Midlands Division
Long Eaton and Gresley top the United Counties League.

After 2155 attended Matlock’s Christmas match against Buxton, could Ilkeston also attract a four figure gate for the New Years Day clash with neighbours Belper? (Top of league v 2nd)

This is a massive game for both sides
A win for Belper would give them top spot, a massive incentive.
Anything less than a win for Ilkeston means that Halesowen can go above them if they win their game in hand.

Ilkeston’s home record is : P10, W7, D2, L1, GF35, GA10, Points 23
Belper’s away record is : P10, W6, D1, L3, GF18, GA17, Points 19.

The teams have met previously this season on 30 August at Belper where it ended 2-2.
After seven matches Belper were 10th but have since climbed up 2nd.Their next fifteen matches produced 12 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats.

But Belper’s record against the other top clubs is poor (Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 5)
Chasetown ( A) lost 0-3
Halesowen (A) lost 1-2
Ilkeston (H) draw 2-2
Coleshill (H) lost 0-2
Carlton (H) won 3-0
Stamford (A) lost 1-6
Chasetown (H) lost 0-2

Belper's main goal threat is top scorer, Jonathan Margetts with 16 goals but defender and skipper Danny South has also scored regularly with 9 goals.

Didnt actually realize about the Derbyshire teams , it looks brilliant though.
If we dont get a four figure i would be very disappointed .With a larger gate of our own supporters plus a good following from Belper we should get it .....surely ?

After four matches without a win Carlton should be too strong for Daventry.
After two defeats in their last three matches, Chasetown face in-form Bedworth United unbeaten in their last six.
Coleshill should bounce back from their defeat against Bedworth when they host Sutton Coldfield.
After their surprise home defeat against Yaxley, Stamford visit Corby who have lost their last six.
Halesowen face Sporting Khalsa who are capable of springing a surprise.
Histon are much improved since their 0-8 defeat at Ilkeston and they host Spalding United who are without a win in their last four. Spalding recently appointed Brett Whaley as their new manager and this will be his first game in charge.
Ilkeston hope to strengthen their position at the top whereas Belper if they win can claim top spot themselves.
Bottom of the league Soham Town Rangers have only picked up just 2 points from their last 13 matches. They host nearby neighbours Cambridge City who will be hoping to build on their last match victory over Histon.
Yaxley have won four on the bounce including an away win at Stamford and will expect to extend that run against Wisbech.

Happy New Year to all Whiteballers
Only six hours before today's big match. It will be interesting to see our starting eleven after Ollie Brown-Hill, Stern Irvine and James Reid all played well for us in difficult conditions at Shepshed. Not sure whether Chapman and Bird are available. Whatever the team, we will be expected to be on the front foot against Belper. I don’t think the Nailers will pose us the same problems that Stamford did but with Margetts up front we have to be solid at the back. It’s going to be a tough match and hopefully a big NYD crowd will see us at our best (unlike in our two previous large attendance games). The Non League Paper will be here again covering the match.

Early corner for Ilkeston but its cleared. Chance for Belper but Brodie can't keep the ball in play. Another decent belper attack - they've started well. Now a Belper corner but it ends with a goal kick 0-0 7 minutes

Reid's cross nearly brings another goal but Belper haven't given up.

I'm not sure if Belper have equalised Ref seemed to point for a goal .
