The Northern Premier League Start Date Next Season

Our destiny for next season is still not known but If we remain in the Northern Premier League next season, either at Step 3 or Step 4, our first League match will be on Saturday 13th August 2022

The Northern Premier League will kick off its 2022/23 season on Saturday August 13.
All four NPL divisions, including the Premier Division at Step 3 and the three Step 4 divisions, will commence on that date.
12 clubs from each Step 4 division will be participating in the FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday August 6. The remaining Step 4 clubs will join the FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday August 20.
The Step 3 clubs will start in the FA Cup first qualifying round on Saturday September 3.
It was confirmed to clubs that there will be no Premier League or EFL Championship games during the FIFA World Cup, which takes place from November 16 to December 18.
The EFL season will start on July 30, with the National League season starting the following week, August 6.
Meanwhile, following a poll of clubs at the recent Regional Meetings, it has been determined that there will be no NPL League Cup competition next season.It was clear that, whilst not unanimous, most clubs did not wish to see the competition re-instated yet.
The board also took into consideration the possibility of further Covid variants or outbreaks affecting fixtures next season, and the positive response to ‘front-loading’ fixtures to mitigate the risk of an end of season fixture pile-up.The NPL board will review the status of the competition well ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Northern Premier League or Southern League Premier Central? Which Step 3 League if we are promoted ?
As things stand it looks like the Step 4 clubs to be promoted to The Northern Prem : Premier Division (Step 3) will come from the NPL West and East divisions
NPL West : any two from Workington , Warrington, Leek, Marine. Runcorn
NPL East : any two from Liversage, Marske, Cleethorpes, Stockton, Shildon
Two teams will be relegated from NPL Premier (Step 3) and there will be two extra places because the number of teams is being increasd from 22 to 24. so four teams from Step4 can go into the Northern Prem (Step 3)
There is little chance of Ilkeston going into the NPL Step 3 based on geographic location. In my opinion it has always been the intention that the teams promoted from NPL Midlands Division go into Southern League

I have been on the Non League Matters website and they are suggesting Ilkeston Town will be in the NPL next season. However its not them who make the decisions so we may be in the Southern league.

Interesting that the Non League Matters post suggests the lateral movement of Mickleover and Stafford Rangers from the Northern Premier to the Southern League. If that suggestion happens and Ilkeston go into the NPL we would then be the most geographically southerly team and we would then be at risk of being laterally moved in future.
I feel that the Northern Prem is a stronger league than the Southern League so our chances of another promotion would be greater if we were in the Southern League.
On the other hand if we're in the NPL, we will have a local derby against Basford plus Matlock and Buxton if they don't go up. There are also some nice seaside trips to Whitby, Scarborough and maybe Marske.
