Hopefully it will be a great day if we win but just as good meeting up with our good friends of Shepshed .

Re: Easter Monday : Ilkeston Town v Shepshed Dynamo

.

It's the final home game of the season and what a memorable season it's been - only four defeats in 36  games.
Before the season started our target was to try to get into the playoffs so we've massively exceeded expectations.
Five wins on the bounce means that we have a chance to clinch automatic promotion on our own ground. It's been a titanic battle with four teams in the running right to the end. A win against Shepshed will mean that none of our rivals can finish with more points than us.
All of Ilkeston should turn out for this match. It's going to be an epic Easter Monday.

Re: Easter Monday : Ilkeston Town v Shepshed Dynamo

.

Here are the Easter Monday fixtures :

Carlton v Spalding
Chasetown v Sporting Khalsa
Coleshill v Bedworth
Corby v Daventry
Halesowen v Sutton Coldfield
Histon v Cambridge
Ilkeston v Shepshed
Loughborough v Belper
Soham T Rangers v Wisbech
Yaxley v Stamford

As long as we win our match then the other results don’t matter.  But we still live in hope that Chasetown may slip up against Sporting Khalsa. Khalsa have a decent record against the top teams having beaten; Ilkeston (twice) Carlton (H), Chasetown (H) and Belper (H).
Halesowen look like winners against Sutton Coldfield and Stamford should win at Yaxley.
Chasetown will be hoping that we slip up but as well as a 3 point lead we have a goal difference advantage of 14 which surely they can’t turn round.

Best case scenario :
A win against Shepshed and we should be uncatchable.

Worst case scenario :
The worst that can happen to Ilkeston is a 4th place finish meaning a playoff match away to the team finishing 3rd. For that to happen we would have to lose our final two games and Chasetown, Halesowen and Stamford would each have to win their remaining two matches.

Re: Easter Monday : Ilkeston Town v Shepshed Dynamo

.

We may be forced into making a few changes tomorrow. A few injuries were picked up against Bedworth. Charlie Wakefield was really limping when leaving the ground. It will be the same for each of our rivals though so we can’t complain. One player’s injury is an opportunity for someone else. I would like to see us play with two wide players, Zak on one side and Carvell on the other. But Martin Carruthers is the manager and for sure,he knows a lot more than I do.
James Carvell’s last appearance was as a substitute  when he replaced Adam Chapman in the 5-2 home win against Sutton Coldfield on 15th January. His last start was against Sporting Bromsgrove on 30th October in the FA Trophy.
All of he players put a lot into the Bedworth game and there were some tired legs at full time.

Re: Easter Monday : Ilkeston Town v Shepshed Dynamo

Some big big games around the local scene today including ourselves! Hopefully nerves willing we will be able to keep the updates coming. If you see me blubbering in a corner somewhere at the NMG at 5:45 we may have won or we may  have lost but I will having a meltdown whatever happens!
This why we love non-league football so its good luck to Martin and his team, Deaks at Long Eaton, Mark at Basford and the fans at Buxton and Matlock. Its game on and here we go!

Re: Easter Monday : Ilkeston Town v Shepshed Dynamo

The ground is filling up nicely. it looks like a good attendance.   10 minutes to  kickoff.
It's bright sunshine. Spoke to Martin earlier and he said he felt sick. The tension is palpable

The teams are out. Ilkeston in red/white home kit.  Shepshed are in all yellow.

Ilkeston kick off and start by attacking the carpark end

We're off ....

Re: Easter Monday : Ilkeston Town v Shepshed Dynamo

Brown-Hill cross is put out for Ilkeston corner.  The ball ends up on the top of the net but its a terrific start by ILKESTON. Now Gibson wins a corner. It's a confident start.       0-0    5 mins

Good run and shot by Gibson but his shot flies the wong side of the far post.

GOAL shepshed Reece Morris  on 20 minutes.      0-1     Ilkeston caught out by a counter attack and a nice finish

Re: Easter Monday : Ilkeston Town v Shepshed Dynamo

Good interception by Irvine.  Shepshed still dangerous when Ilkeston are over committed. Bennett is booked for a foul.        Montel block buster cannons off Ganley's chest  At the other end Deeney has to push a shot over the bar then a  block by Bennett saves the day..        2-2        63 min
