While 2021/22 was most definitely the seasonal equivalent of a game of two halves – the first awful, the second more encouraging, probably the most pleasing aspect off the field was the level of attendances at Top Field that went up and up as the season progressed. Hopefully this article will reach some of our new supporters, as well as those who have already seen its annual appearance a few times around this time of the year!
The Hitchin Town Supporters’ Trust is moving into its 18th season since its inception in 2005. For those who may not have heard about it, the Trust makes a contribution to the weekly playing budget that is in addition to the budget provided to the manager by the football club itself. This enables the manager to bring in players that he may otherwise not have been able to afford.We are delighted that many Trust members have been contributing since that first Trust season, but in recent years a number of regular contributors have passed away so it is important to keep bringing new members on board. For the monthly price of a pint, or the weekly price of a cup of coffee, you could help us make sure that the Trust’s weekly contribution to the playing budget continues to make a difference.
Donations big or small, one-offs or regular Standing Orders, cheques or cash payments are all welcomed and are always kept totally confidential. Please don’t think any contribution you may make won’t make a difference, they all add up!
We are currently living in very difficult economic times and the Trust committee is of course fully aware that people who might otherwise be thinking of contributing may be unable to do so at this point. Halfway through last season Hitchin were bottom with 13 points from 20 matches
They finished the season 17th with 42 points from 40 matches
