Sat 22 Oct - Ilkeston v Bromsgrove Sporting : NMG - ko 3pm

.
Next up is a home fixture against Bromsgrove Sporting who lost 7-1 on Saturday against Leiston. That result has brought about a change in their management.

Management Team Go at Bromsgrove Sporting
Thomas Ballie and his management team have left Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club Bromsgrove Sporting by mutual consent.  Thomas Baillie was appointed in May following the departure of Gavin Hurren. Baillie previously won the Southern League with Kettering Town and has vast academy experience whilst at Norwich City and has also been head of football at league rivals Stratford Town and Tamworth. However, a mixed start to the season came to a head on Saturday when the Rouslers were hammered 7-1 on their own Victoria Ground patch by Leiston – a third successive defeat.

Re: Sat 22 Oct - Ilkeston v Bromsgrove Sporting : NMG - ko 3pm

We can capitalise on our win at Royston by winning our next two games which are both at home and starting with Bromsgrove Sporting

Bromsgrove have 16 points from their 12 matches played (2 points more than us) Their away record is Played 5 , Won 3, and Lost 2. Their best away performance was a 5-2 win at Kings Langley

They have lost their last three matches (all at home) including a 3-0 FA Trophy defeat against Chasetown.

Bromsgrove were the best supported club in the league last season and their average gate so far this season is 647 so they will probably bring a number of fans to the NMG.

From Northamptonshire Telegraph   (31 May 2021)

McGrath faces 35-MATCH BAN after FA charges while playing for Poppies

The Football Association have come down hard on the defender who was with Kettering Town last season. Michael McGrath is facing a whopping 35-match ban from three Football Association charges against him while playing for Kettering Town during the curtailed 2020-21 season.
The defender denied all three charges but all three were found to be proven with the player now facing a total of 35 matches suspended and total fines of £1,550.

The biggest ban thrown at McGrath came following an incident during the Poppies’ 3-0 defeat at Leamington in the fourth round of the Buildbase FA Trophy on January 19 this year, which proved to be their final game of the curtailed campaign.
McGrath was involved in an ugly confrontation with the match referee, which result in him being sent-off.
The FA charges for that incident read as follows:
“1. It is alleged that in or around the 11th minute of the fixture the participant used abusive and/or insulting words towards the match referee, contrary to Rule E3.1.
“2. It is alleged that following the participant’s dismissal, the participant’s language and/or behaviour towards the match referee was abusive and/or insulting, contrary to Rule E3.1. It is alleged that this breach of FA Rule E3.1 is an “aggravated breach” as defined in Rule E3.2, as it included a reference to sexual orientation
.“3. It is alleged that following the participant’s dismissal, the participant’s language and/or behaviour towards the match referee was threatening.
“4. It is alleged that following the participant’s dismissal from the field of play, the participant’s language and/or behaviour in or around the tunnel area amounts to improper conduct, contrary to Rule E3.1.”
It is stated on the FA website that the charges were denied but the result was proven with McGrath handed a 21-match suspension, £750 fine and an FA face to face education course.

The first charge related to an incident following Kettering’s 1-1 draw with Guiseley at Latimer Park on November 24.The charge read as follows: “It is alleged that in the hospitality suite at Kettering Town Football Club following the above fixture, the participant used abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official, contrary to Rule E3.1
.“It is further alleged that this breach of Rule E3.1 is an “aggravated breach”, as defined in Rule E3.2, as the language included a reference to sexual orientation.”
The charge was again denied but the result was proven with McGrath handed a 10-match suspension, £600 fine and an FA face to face education course.

The third charge related to the 3-3 draw at Hereford four days later on November 28 in which McGrath was sent-off for two bookable offences. The FA charges read as follows:
“1. It is alleged that in or around the 70th minute, the participant’s language towards a match official was abusive and/or insulting.
“2. It is alleged that following the participant’s dismissal, the participant’s behaviour in/around the dugout amounts to improper conduct.”
The charges were denied but have been listed as proven with the punishment being a four-match suspension and £200 fine.
The Poppies have, so far, not confirmed the status of McGrath’s future with the club as they begin their preparations for the new National League North campaign starting in August.

Re: Sat 22 Oct - Ilkeston v Bromsgrove Sporting : NMG - ko 3pm

.

What will our team be to face Bromsgrove Sporting?
Dan Bradley came on for the last few minutes at Royston, so does that mean he is fit again.
Jamie Ward came off at Royston so don't know if he will be available. Alex Troke replaced him and did well so may keep his place.
Without suspended Arlott-John and unavailable Montel Gibson we are lacking pace up front and real goal threat. However Declan Eratt-Thompson and Joe Wilson combined well at Royston and may be our best attacking threat.
Will Reco Fyfe come straight into the team?
If we still hope to challenge for a playoff spot by the end of the season we must start to win our home matches. A clean sheet gives us a chance.

Personally,I would like to see Ollie Brown-Hill is given the No. 11 shirt in place of the suspended Dempsey Arlott-John. He always seems to be overlooked though he never lets us down.

Re: Sat 22 Oct - Ilkeston v Bromsgrove Sporting : NMG - ko 3pm

DATE: FRI 21 OCT 2022    BY STEVE WHITNEY

Weekend Match Preview
It’s back to the bread-and-butter league fixtures this weekend in the Pitching In Southern Football League.

Premier Division Central
Tamworth will look to increase or at least maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table when they host Hitchin Town at the CR Mot Centre Community Stadium. Andy Peaks` Lambs have lost just once to date in the league and edged a 1-0 win at bottom-side Hednesford Town on Tuesday night. You’re never quite sure what to expect from Hitchin, who shared a 1-1 draw with the Pitmen last weekend. That at least ended a dreadful run for the Canaries which had seen them pick up just one point in their previous four league games and saw them knocked out of both the Emirates FA Cup and Isuzu FA Trophy – five of those defeats being by the same 3-0 scoreline!

Nuneaton Borough are second and take on sixth-placed Rushall Olympic at Liberty Way. Jimmy Ginnelly’s side have been out of action since becoming the first team to lose to second-from-bottom AFC Rushden & Diamonds on October 11th but now face three big home games in succession, with Needham Market next Tuesday and then league rivals Alvechurch visiting in the Trophy a week on Saturday.

Everyone seems to be waiting for Leiston to drop down the table. However, Darren Eadie and Chris Wigger’s side show no signs of doing that. Indeed, they hammered Bromsgrove Sporting 7-1 on their own Victoria Ground patch last Saturday to move into third place, eight points behind Tamworth having played a game less. Leiston are at home to another improving side in Stourbridge this weekend – the Glassboys having beaten Stratford Town 4-0 at the War Memorial Athletic Ground last Saturday to record their third win of the season to date.

Redditch United are another side who were not tipped by pundits to feature in the promotion race, but Matt Clarke’s side are currently fourth and won 2-0 at Diamonds last time out. The Reds, level on points with Leiston, take on third-from-bottom Barwell at the Trico Stadium on Saturday.

Coalville Town currently occupies fifth spot and are a couple of games behind most of the rest of the division, due to their tremendous FA Cup run which saw them pull of the biggest shock of the Fourth Qualifying Round when beating Vanarama National League leaders Notts County at Meadow Lane. They head to Bedford Town’s Eyrie on Saturday – the Eagles will be hoping that the Ravens will still be celebrating and take their eye off the ball ahead of their First Round tie at League One Charlton Athletic! Gary Setchell’s Bedford have not found things easy after winning promotion last season but will be in good spirits after their 3-1 win at Rushall last weekend.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Hednesford were not expected to be in the bottom two but they are and face tricky tests on Saturday. Diamonds make their first visit to the Don Amott Stadium to take on Mickleover, who are currently 12th, and had a 5-2 win at third-from-bottom Barwell last Saturday.

Steve Burr’s Hednesford welcome mid-table Royston Town, having lost in midweek to leaders Tamworth. Steve Castle’s Crows have been inconsistent to date and lost at home to Ilkeston Town last weekend.

And Jamie Ward and Ben Turner’s Robins will look to follow that up on Saturday when they take on managerless Bromsgrove Sporting at the Microlise New Manor Ground. The Rouslers` home hammering by Leiston last weekend was Thomas Baillie’s last game in charge.

Another of the league’s FA Cup heroes, Alvechurch, haven’t played in the league since losing 3-1 at Nuneaton on Tuesday, 27th September and as a consequence, have dropped down the table to fourth-from-bottom. So, Ian Long’s men will look to get something from their trip to Kings Langley on Saturday – their hosts being just a point and a place above them at kick-off.

The other FA Cup hero, Kevin Horlock’s Needham Market, are currently eighth in the table and travel to the Arden Garages Stadium to take on a Stratford Town side who haven’t won in six now in all competitions.

St Ives Town, who bowed out of the FA Cup last weekend to National League side FC Halifax Town, face seventh-placed Basford United at Westwood Road in Saturday’s other game – the sides separated by just a point in the table.

Re: Sat 22 Oct - Ilkeston v Bromsgrove Sporting : NMG - ko 3pm

.

Looking forward to seeing newly signed left winger Tope Obadeyi. He looks likely to come into the team as a direct replacement for the suspended Dempsey Arlott-John.
Interesting that we’ve signed another on loan central defender in Harrison Solomon. I’ve been well impressed with Finn Delap who I think was signed on a one month loan. Maybe he’s been recalled by Burton.
Marshall Willock may pay a heavy price for his sending off at Rushall.
We could have three new players in the team with Reco Fyfe also available.
Bromsgrove Sporting will be keen to bounce back from an embarrassing 7-1 home defeat against Leiston so it should be an interesting game. Bromsgrove are a big club with big support so I think that we can expect a good number of away fans.

Good effort by Troke is so close. Ilkeston are well on top just now.  Good save by Armstrong after weaving run by Fyfe.  Then good effort by Wright for Bromsgrove all along the floor and well held by Battersby.      0-0     21 mins
