Sat 5th Nov - Ilkeston v Hitchin - NMG ko 3pm

.

Our next match is Hitchin at the NMG on November 5th.

Our results so far have been disappointing but there’s an opportunity to turn things round in November.
We have 5 matches in November. Four of these matches are against teams currently below us in the bottom half of the table so we have an opportunity to climb the table.
To have any chance of challenging for a playoff position we have pick up at least 10 points.  We should be able to win the three home games.

Sat Nov 05   Hitchin (H)
Sat Nov 12   Nuneaton  (A)
Sat Nov 19   Hednesford  (A)
Tue Nov 22   Barwell (H)
Sat Nov 26   Kings Langley (H)

Hitchin Town currently have one point less than Ilkeston but have played a game less.
Their record is : P13,  W4,   D4,   L5.  F11,  A18,   Points 16
Three of their four wins have been away from home.
It's interesting that they have scored only 11 goals in 13 matches.
They have failed to score in seven out fifteen matches in all competitions.
In their last match they won 2-1 at Stratford.

Re: Sat 5th Nov - Ilkeston v Hitchin - NMG ko 3pm

.
After not playing Saturday we are 13th and only two points off a relegation place.
In my opinion the home game against Hitchin is a must win because it's followed by two tough away games, first we visit 3rd placed Nuneaton then travel to Hednesford. A good win against Hitchin would give us confidence going into the games on the road. We have to improve our home form or we won't climb the table.

Hitchin have a match this Tuesday night away to Nuneaton. Also this Tuesday night Mickleover host Basford.

Re: Sat 5th Nov - Ilkeston v Hitchin - NMG ko 3pm

.
In the last three completed seasons we have been successful and achieved promotions. We have been spoiled. This season expectations were again high but we've not made the start we wanted. About 15 of the 22 teams have been beating each other on a regular basis so that only a few points seperate the teams just outside the playoffs and the teams just outside the relegation positions. We are currently among those teams that could quickly move up the table or down the table.
So despite our less than good start, if we put a decent run together, a challenge for a playoff position is not beyond us. We showed what we are capable of when we won 4-1 at Coalville but since then we've not been able to reproduce that form.
Our lack of consistency has not been helped by having a big turnover of players but I think we now have a decent squad and have a fair chance of improving our results. However, we now have some loan players in the team who could be re-called by their parent clubs.

A win against Hitchin gives us another opportunity to be optimistic again.
A defeat against Hitchin means we will be looking anxiously at the other end of the table.

Re: Sat 5th Nov - Ilkeston v Hitchin - NMG ko 3pm

.

Hitchin got a good point tonight at Nuneaton Borough.
They now have 17 points, the same as Ilkeston with an identical record P14, W4, D5, L5.

Hitchin’s results to date indicate a set up that concentrates on defending rather than attacking. Their supporters have seen fewer goals in their 14 league matches than any other team in our league so far, (12 for and 19 against).  There have not been more than three goals in any of their league fixtures.

Re: Sat 5th Nov - Ilkeston v Hitchin - NMG ko 3pm

.

There are eight matches in our league this Saturday.  Coalville, Needham Market and Alvechurch play in the FA Cup 1st round proper

Saturday 5th November matches :

Southern League Premier Central
Rushden & Diamonds v Kings Langley
Bromsgrove Sporting v Royston
Hednesford v Leiston
Ilkeston v Hitchin
Mickleover v Bedford
St Ives v Nuneaton Borough
Stratford v Basford
Tamworth v Redditch

FA Cup  1st Round
Charlton Athletic v Coalville
Cheltenham v Alvechurch
Burton Albion v Needham Market

Matches in our League are impossible to predict. Every match could go either way.

Three clubs from the Premier Division Central and two Premier Division South outfits are in FA Cup action over the weekend, with Bracknell Town’s tie against former FA Cup winners Ipswich Town, taking place on Monday evening as it’s being televised live. Bracknell will receive a whopping £50,000 fee for being on ITV4, UTV, ITV Hub and STV Player.
The four other clubs ie Merthyr Town, Coalville, Alvechurch and Needham Market will receive £5,000 as they will have single-camera footage for clips and highlights.

Re: Sat 5th Nov - Ilkeston v Hitchin - NMG ko 3pm

A win today could see us move up to eighth place in the table as three of the teams above us are not playing and Bedford and St Ives have difficult against Mickleover and Nuneaton Borough.

Re: Sat 5th Nov - Ilkeston v Hitchin - NMG ko 3pm

I was going to this game but i will leave it now as i am recovering from both a chest infection and an ear infection. Feel a lot better than i did earlier this week but still dont feel uo to going.
Really hope we get the win today because next weeks game is going to a massive task at Nuneaton.

Bell hammers a first timer just wide from a rare Hitchin attack.  Montel now brought down on corner of area. Great effort by Fenton is tipped over by Horlock. Thomas corner hits the inside of the far post and stays out. Intense pressure from Ilkeston       1-1    69 mins
