Kings Langley are the furthest south team in the Southern League Premier Central. Last season they were in the Southern League Premier South. They started the season well losing only one of their first seven matches but since then they have slid down the table to their current position of 19th.

Re: Sat 26th Nov - Ilkeston v Kings Langley

Do we know if the locals schools have been sent the advertisement. The last time I took in 500 leaflets  into four schools last time . I am a firm believer in involving the schools . No doubt the kids might support the obvious bigger clubs in the prem , championship etc but might not ever get to see them . Give them chances to see a non league club as much as possible I say.

Re: Sat 26th Nov - Ilkeston v Kings Langley

,

It would be great if we could get 1500 in for the game. For people who haven't been before it will show them what's available on their door step. For families, it's a great opportunity to bring the kids and to let them experience a live game. For those of us who attend regular, we benefit from having a big crowd atmosphere.
Also. I hope the free admission encourages a few Kings Langley supporters make the long journey.

I am not having a go but .....why dont the club go to schools to advertise these sort of games. If i had enough notice we could have got the word round more. I am only saying this because i got some good feedback when i went, Plus the barbers around town are a good place to advertise as are cafes. Just a thought.
Why i am going on about this ? Mainly because the owners are doing a fantastic job they deserve us fans to help out as much as we can to advertise these special one off`s . Then maybe just maybe we might get a few more new fans coming down to ilson

Re: Sat 26th Nov - Ilkeston v Kings Langley

Kings Langley lost 2-0 against fellow strugglers Bedford Town last night.
Their record now stands at P17, W4, D4 ,L9, F18, A32, Points 16.
So on average they score only one goal per game and only concede less than two.
They have failed to score in 7 of their 17 league matches.
Their biggest defeat was 5-2 at home to Bromsgrove.
On average they have been watched by 254 spectators in each game so far this season  (highest 596, lowest 125) so they may be slightly overwhelmed if we get a 'four figure plus' attendance.

If we win on Saturday against Kings Langley, it will be the first time this season that the league table will show us having more wins than defeats.

Kings Langley's last 11 matches have produced 1 win, 2 draws and 8 defeats. We really should win this one.

After Kings Langley, we have two tougher matches in Redditch United away and Tamworth at home.

Redditch are 7th (just outside the playoff positions) with 28 points from 16 matches.
They haven’t got the best home record but they are the only side in our league who are unbeaten away from home.
Home record  :  P8, W3, D1, L4,  F16, A17, Points 10
Away record   :  P8, W5, D3, L0,  F12, A 4,  Points 18
In their last 3 league games they have beaten Basford at home 2-1, drew with Tamworth away, 0-0 and beat Mickleover at home 2-1.

A win against Kings Langley and Redditch takes us to the Tamworth match. We are currently 14 points behind Tamworth but if we beat them then the deficit is only 11 points and we have a game in hand. We would need to keep winning and hope that Tamworth keep dropping points but there's still an ever so slim possibility that we can catch them.

Re: Sat 26th Nov - Ilkeston v Kings Langley

It's Matchday tomorrow and we're hoping for a big crowd as it's free admission. After our stuttering start to the season we now feel confident that we are poised to climb the league table and make a challenge to get into the playoff positions. We welcome Kings Langley who make the journey north from Hertfordshire.

Here are Saturday's fixtures in our league:
Bedford v Bromsgrove
Coalville v Needham Market
Hitchin v Mickleover
Ilkeston v Kings Langley
Leiston v Redditch
Nuneaton v Tamworth
Rushall v Rushden & Diamonds
St Ives v Hednesford
Stourbridge v Barwell
Stratford v Royston

Following the Kings Langley match there are just four teams we haven't played against yet this season; Alvechurch, Basford, Hednesford and Needham Market.

A win tomorrow would definitely lift us above Basford because they aren't playing. We could also go above Hitchin, Stourbridge and Bromsgrove who are all one point above us,
Hitchin have a tough match against Mickleover, Stourbridge will probably win against Barwell and Bromsgrove should beat Bedford.

Match of the day has to be the clash between deadly rivals Nuneaton and Tamworth. A draw would suit Ilkeston.

Non-league Ilkeston Town to offer free entry during crisis

By Andrew Aloia    BBC Sport    Last updated on 5 hours ago

Derbyshire club Ilkeston Town play in the seventh tier of English footballNon-league side Ilkeston Town will let fans through the turnstiles for free on Saturday "to give them something back" during the cost of living crisis.Ilkeston's offer for their game against Kings Langley comes despite the club - like many lower tier sides - dealing with price hikes themselves.
Robins boss Jamie Ward, the ex-Derby and Nottingham Forest forward, hopes the initiative "puts smiles on faces". "We know people are struggling in this moment in time," he told BBC Sport. "Fans give us so much during the season so this is a way we can give them something back ."We want to get as many people through our turnstiles as possible to watch the game. "If it's a case of putting on free entry for people to come and do that, and to let them enjoy their weekend with Christmas coming up and the cost of living rises, then we are more than happy to do that. "If this brings one family through the door and makes one kid's Christmas, that will be enough for us. "Hopefully we can put lots of smiles on people's faces."

The Derbyshire club, who play in the seventh tier of English football in the Southern League Premier Division Central, have averaged crowds of more than 600 at their New Manor Ground this season. Admission for adults is usually £12, with student and concession tickets normally priced at £8. Former Northern Ireland international Ward, who has been player-manager at Ilkeston since September, said "we are happy to take the hit". "We are going to take it because we know how important it is for people," he continued. "We want to look after our community and our fans who come through the door. "With Ilkeston situated about 10 miles from the homes of both Derby County and Premier League side Nottingham Forest, Ward hopes supporters from his former clubs will be among those who take up the offer this weekend. Forest are not in action again until after the World Cup in Qatar finishes in December, while League One side Derby are in FA Cup action on Sunday.  "It's always nice to go support your local non-league team," Ward said. "Hopefully, with the relationship I've had with both clubs, that can bring a few more of the Forest or Derby fans through."

Re: Sat 26th Nov - Ilkeston v Kings Langley

Sorry about the delay Alex

It's coming up to kickoff time. The attendance looks slightly disappointing for a free admission game.
It's quite cold and I think most people are in the clubhouse.

The teams are now out and Kings Langley are playing in all yellow.

Ilkeston start the game attacking the car park end.

We're off

Ewington shot is deflected for a corner. Ilkeston are under a bit of easy pressure. Free kick by Ryan Case is only just too high.     0-0     10 mins

Re: Sat 26th Nov - Ilkeston v Kings Langley

Ewington gets free but his lob over Battersby is too high. No 4, Ryan Case is taking all the Kings corners and they've all been dangerous inswingwers.   Its a penalty for Kings for a trip in the area.  No complaints from me.  Its a poor spot kick though by Bradley Wadkins and Battersby saves it .            still 1-0        39 minutes

Arlott-John shot is deflected wide.  Free kick to Ilkeston 10 yards outside the area. Fenton's effort hits the wall. It continues to be an attacking game.       1-0      44 mins

Half time:  Ilkeston 1 Kings Langley 0

It's quite a feisty game with both teams going hard.  Great effort by Gibson but Keeper saves well. Arlott John wins a corner. but he's being replaced by Tyree Wilson. Eratt-Thompson shot thwacks against the post after good work by Gibson.       3-0         65 mins

Gibson is causing havoc and gets fouled for the umpteenth time. Ilkeston are pressing for a fourth goal.  Joe Wilsons free kick well saved.  Then Gibson header saved.        3-0    78 mins
