Tamworth have dominated the second half and deserve to be ahead.  Ball just won't fall for Arlott-John and keeper collects.      0-2

Tamworth are easily managing the game    There are 4 minutes added time.

.

Today was very disappointing. The first half was even and we had our chances to score. The second half we were out-played and couldn't create anything. Tamworth were far superior. Our chances of catching Tamworth now are zero, but we still have to believe that we can get into the playoffs. We must now move on and bounce back at Alvechurch next week.

Yes we paid the price for the missed chances in the first half. Tamworth dominated the second half and slowly wore us down. I think their No6 did not look like an athlete but he never put a foot wrong and his positioning and anticipation was perfect. He did not need be able to run very fast as he made time for himself on the ball. I must always say that the Tamworth we entertained  in hospitality were lovely people and considering the early season mishaps at their ground they were incredibly polite and thoughtful. For many reasons this was a special game for me and the fact that it went off in a friendly atmosphere made it even more memorable.

Ilkeston’s promotion hopes took a knock as league leaders Tamworth ran out comfortable winners. The Robins probably edged the first half but were second best after the interval and late goals by Alex Bradley and Callum Cockerill-Mollett sealed their fate.
Ilkeston started well with a Declan Eratt-Thompson header just wide but Tamworth were soon to show their attacking flair when the leagues top scorer Dan Creaney sent a vicious shot inches wide and Kyle Finn twice sent curlers just wide. Ilkeston replied forcing a succession of corners. Jamie Ward’s free kick was just too high and Chris O’Grady’s header hit a defender. O’Grady had another chance which he put wide and there was then a couple of opportunities for Lee Tomlin. One he put over the bar then he was robbed by the outrushing keeper Jasmir Singh who whipped the ball off his toe. Just before half time Dempsey Arlott-John had an effort blocked by a defender and Singh saved well from both Fenton and Tomlin as Ilkeston were denied a half time lead.
Tamworth were far stronger in the second half and were prevented from going ahead by a fine save by Ollie Battersby only two minutes in. At the other end Tomlin's dangerous cross was held onto by Singh. Tamworth replied with Bradley going close and Finn seeing his effort deflected wide. Bradley was close again when his fierce free kick cleared the bar. Ilkeston were struggling to create anything meaningful going forward and Tamworth finally broke the deadlock on 75 minutes. Jack Thomas was robbed of the ball by Bradley who smashed it past Battersby to the delight of the visiting Tamworth supporters and it was game over three minutes later when Cockerill-Mollett headed a second.

No complaints from me regarding the result. Pity we couldn't produce a win for Mr WhiteBall before his final match before "emigrating" to Northumberland. I thought the atmosphere in the boardroom was somewhat restrained especially when the suited Tamworth officials first arrived. Myself, Mark Frost and John Shiels tried to be extra nice to them and eventually they relaxed their guard. By kick off time all was well and in no small part due to John Shiels's non-stop chatting with them. You'll definitely be missed in Hospitality John.
At the end of the game it was warm handshakes all round and the relationship between the two clubs is hopefully back on track. Admittedly It was probably helped by Tamworth winning the game.

Boro got off to a great start with goals from Charlie Dowd after 2 minutes and Luke Benbow 7 minutes later. Will Davies reduced the deficit 8 minutes after the break but were unable to find a leveller.
Mickleover moved into the top five after a 2-0 win at the Don Amott Arena against third-from-bottom Kings Langley. Veteran forward Stuart Beavon after 15 minutes and Ollie Greaves on 67 minutes were the Sports` scorers.
Hednesford Town moved off bottom spot after picking up a point from a 1-1 draw at the Trico Stadium against Redditch United, whose Lewis Hudson cancelled out James McQuilkin’s 24th minute opener just 3 minutes from time.
Elsewhere, Bromsgrove Sporting had a good 2-1 win at Westwood Road against St Ives Town with Dan Sweeney after 36 minutes and Mo Sebbeh-Njie on 71 minutes sealing victory after Jonny Edwards had equalised on 66 minutes.
