Re: Tue 17th Jan '23 : Hednesford v ilkeston : ko 7 45pm

,

After the postponement of our match at Kings Langley, we turn our attention to Tuesday evening's match at Hednesford.

Second-from-bottom Hednesford Town did play and shared a 2-2 draw at the RACE Stadium against St Ives Town.
But it could have been worse as the Pitmen found themselves 2-1 down at the break.
The Saints took an early 4th-minute lead through Jonny Edwards. And that lead was doubled in the 28th minute when the hosts failed to clear a long throw and Kieran Higgs fired home the loose ball.
Hednesford pulled themselves back into the contest in the 37th minute when Riley-Cole O’Sullivan got on the end of a flick-on by player boss Danny Glover to score.
Hednesford had a great chance to equalise 7 minutes into the second half when St Ives were penalised for a shirt pull on Niah Payne in the area. The penalty was taken by Glover, who saw his effort saved by visiting `keeper James Dadge.
It was Glover’s latest signing who rescued his team – and saved his own blushes – when, 2 minutes into stoppage time, debutant Stefan Morley fired a free-kick into the top corner.
Hednesford still trail Kings Langley in 18th by a massive 10 points.

Above report by Southern League's Steve Whitney

.

Despite their lowly league position Hednesford are one of the better supported teams in our league with an average attendance of 514.
After a poor run of results they have picked up four points from their last two matches beating  Bedford 3-1 and drawing 2-2 with St Ives.
Their home form so far has been poor.  Played 12, Won 2, Drawn 4, Lost 6.

Should be a 3-0 win with goals for Lita, Arlott-John and Tomlin

Fixtures Tuesday night 17th January.
Alvechurch v Coalville
Hednesford v Ilkeston
Needham Market v Barwell
Nuneaton Borough v Basford

Two of our promotion rivals Coalville and Nuneaton are also playing.
Let’s hope Alvechurch can re-discover their Cup form and take points off Coalville but don’t expect Basford to do us any favours at Nuneaton.

Another defender, Ben Kaninda, has arrived at the RACE Stadium on a month’s loan from League One side Wycombe Wanderers. The 19-year-old began his career with West Bromwich Albion’s academy before moving on to join Shrewsbury Town in 2020. The powerful centre-back then made the move to Wycombe at the beginning of the 2022/23 season, impressing on his debut for the club in a Papa Johns Trophy game against Tottenham Hotspur under-23’s.

Re: Tue 17th Jan '23 : Hednesford v ilkeston : ko 7 45pm

According to Zane - The match is off.

It's also shown as Postponed on Football Web Pages

Nuneaton v Basford is the only match tonight that is not postponed at the moment.
