Gate 624.
Thomais is sent tumbling in the area . Looked like a stone wall pen to me but Bromsgrove supporters are relieved as the referee doesn’t give it!

Re: Sat 4th March 23 ; Bromsgrove Sporting v Ilkeston Town kick off 3pm

Ilkeston did really well in the later stages of the match. Bromsgrove were prevented from creating any real chances as we dominated possession and looked the more likely to score. In other words we weren't hanging on at all.
Jack Thomas took some stick for a poor decision at Hednesford but today he was excellent when he came on for the second half. Remaye also had a better game than he did at Hednesford. Leroy missed couple of decent chances but he didn't let it bother him and he got his reward with the winner. Jordan Hallam's luck in front of goal changed today as he scored when his shot took a big deflection before going in.
Wilder and Errat-Thompson both defended well and got forward often.
Bromsgrove weren't brilliant but our players deserve credit for twice coming from behind to win the game.
Also pleasing was the magnificent support we had all through the match.

Re: Sat 4th March 23 ; Bromsgrove Sporting v Ilkeston Town kick off 3pm

Not the best video coverage of a game (as you'll see I'm being kind there); he manages to miss Ilkeston's first goal, Lita missing 2 open goals, and all but the ball going into the net for our second goal.

https://youtu.be/0SPehoznsPs

But what you can see is the poor defending for both goals we conceded. Our keeper shouldn't get beat at his near post for the first, and yet again we can't defend a ball coming into our box for the second.

But have a look at our third goal on 8m15s. The commentator thinks it's a complete fluke but the more I watch it the more I think that's unfair. Of course he didn't mean to put it in the far corner, but it was very quick reactions to skillfully deflect a pacey shot/cross goalwards. Isn't that what the best goalscorers are able to do - block out any earlier chances missed and simply concentrate on the next one that comes along?

The stars of the show today we're our fans behind the goal. I think they sang for the whole of the second half. We were sat in the main stand and it was fantastic to hear. Must be so uplifting for the team.

Re: Sat 4th March 23 ; Bromsgrove Sporting v Ilkeston Town kick off 3pm

Bromsgrove Sporting  2  Ilkeston Town  3
Ilkeston made it six games unbeaten after twice coming from behind to win. Jordan Hallam scored his first goal for the club and Leroy Lita kept up his goal-a-game average.
Ilkeston started well but nearly fell behind on 9 minutes when a terrific effort by Jack Tolley was turned round the post by Callum Hiddleston. Leroy Lita was then guilty of missing a couple of chances for Ilkeston before Bromsgrove swept up the other end and scored on 13 minutes, Connor Tee latching on to a through ball and firing home. Ilkeston responded immediately when Mitchell Woakes’s cross from the left was finished by Remaye Campbell. Lita had another chance on 20 minutes but again his effort was easily saved. The Rouslers regained the lead on the half hour following a corner. Hiddleston stopped Tom Taylor’s close range header but the defender followed up and bundled the ball over the line. Ilkeston were forcing numerous corners and from one of them Oliver Taylor denied Finn Delap with a superb tip over the bar. But the Robins were to equalise for a second time just before half time with a touch of good fortune. Hallam worked himself into a good position before his shot took a big deflection leaving Taylor stranded as the ball flew into the net.
Ilkeston made a confident start to the second half retaining the ball much better than their opponents. Chances were few but on 60 minutes Lita put Ilkeston ahead after he got on the end of Declan Errat-Thompson’s cross and scuffed it past a despairing Taylor. A shot from distance by Brandon Smalley was only just wide as Bromsgrove fought back. On 74 minutes Tee broke free but was dispossessed by an excellent Henri Wilder tackle. At the other end Mason O’Malley’s attempt was pushed round the post and Campbell’s effort flew the wrong side of the post into the side netting. On 90 minutes Ilkeston had a big penalty shout when Jack Thomas was sent tumbling in the area. Thomas then nearly settled the outcome in added time but his excellent attempt flashed by the post as Ilkeston finished the stronger.
