The case for the defence ...

It’s not difficult to see where our problems lie, we ship goals for fun, and it’s what we need to correct for next season. Alfreton conceded 2 last night (they won 3-2) but have conceded only 35 goals in 38 games. This defensive record gives them a good chance of making the play-offs in the National League North. We’ve conceded 55 goals in 37 games. This defensive record doesn’t give you much of a chance of making the play-offs. Give or take, we’ve conceded 20 goals more that Tamworth, Coalville, Rushall, and Nuneaton. You build from the back. Have we currently got any defenders that could be part of a defence that would concede 20 fewer goals? Just my opinion, but I don't think so. For me, good shout from Alex to try Fenton as a midfielder. Very difficult to switch positions I know, especially if you've spent years as a centre-back, but he's good with the ball at his feet, can spot a pass, and has a terrific shot as we know. Wardy has got to get this right in the summer.
