Player situation

.

Only two weeks to go now until the first pre-season friendly.
I went down to the ground this morning and struck lucky bumping into Jamie Ward. Jamie said that he is happy with the sixteen players we have got. He was at the ground to meet another potential signing. When the player arrived Jamie went off to show him around.  I think he said he was from Sheffield Wednesday.
Apparently Declan has a brother and Jamie said he looks a useful player and may sign.
He said that we managed to get Matt Yates's signature due to his employer moving to our area.
I also heard that Fin Delap would like to return to Ilkeston on loan but Jamie said that Burton wanted him to play at a higher level (National League). Apparently Mickleover also wanted Delap.
We still have to look at some trialists, some from higher leagues.

When asked how he thought the team would cope in the more physical Northern Premier, Jamie replied, "I won the Northern Premier League with Buxton so I know what It takes. He said what he would really like is a couple of squad players who could come on and make an impact when called upon.

Been down to the ground today.  Training starts next Tuesday night and it's the first pre-season friendly next Saturday against Radford.  I was told that one of the trialists is a super fast winger so looking forward to seeing him. Fin Delap was on the pitch today getting himself fit and ready for pre-season with Burton.

Just got back from watching a tough first training session at the NMG. I think there were 19 players there. It looked good mix of players and all looked fit and ready to go.  Jamie said they all will get a chance in the upcoming friendlies and he is happy with the players he thinks will make up the first team.  However, he would still like a couple of impact players he could bring on. New signing James Hurst looked in good physical condition and Jamie said that coach Lee Williamson would probably sign player forms.

We had a new physio at training tonight but she said that she cannot make every match. I think we also need a kit man.

Re: Player situation

.
Watched Thursday night's training session and it's starting to look like we have some really good players.  There's a lot of emphasis on speed and stamina. There were several quick players on view and Hurst looks a real powerhouse. One touch passing at speed looked really good. Basile Zottos could become a big favourite. There was one player receiving treatment and didn't take part. We should have two players on loan from Scunthorpe. I don't know if they took part in training last night.
After the session Jamie told the 18 players that they would all get at least a half against Radford on Saturday.
After watching training twice it looks like we have a decent squad but its difficult to know how we compare with the other NPL teams until we play against them.

Get down to the NMG for the Radford game and see what you think.  2pm kickoff. Then on Wednesday we have another friendly at the NMG against Maltby Main ko 745pm.

Re: Player situation

Cant Sat nor Weds but will look forward to hearing from the fans about the new editions to the team.  Really hope we have someone big up front with good heading , holding and scoring ability along side Lita. We have really missed a front man like that .
