I'm looking forward to this. One thing I like about NPL more midweek games.

There is no better place to be when the NMG is rocking.

Re: Tue 15 August 23 : Ilkeston v Gainsborough Trinity : ko 7 45pm

We look much more likely to score goals since the signing of Jamie Walker and the defence looks tighter with the addition of Luke Cox and Ross Barrows. Hope we get a good crowd come down and with the fans backing we can capitalise on our winning start.

Here are tomorrow nights fixtures:

Tuesday 15th August 2023  NPL Premier Division
Ashton United v Basford United
Atherton Collieries v Bradford (Park Avenue)
Bamber Bridge v Htde United
Guiseley v Whitby Town
Ilkeston Town v Gainsborough Trinity
Macclesfield v Matlock Town
Marine v FC United of Manchester
Morpeth v Workington
Radcliffe v Lancaster City
Stafford Rangers v Warrington Rylands
Worksop Town v Marske United

Workington, Radcliffe, FC United , Ilkeston, Lancaster, Macclesfield and Whitby all have three points from their opening game.  Can we make it a dream start by picking up another three points against the Holy Blues?
With a large crowd behind us, we can do it.

In the Southern League Premier Central our Erewash neighbours, Long Eaton United, are away to Nuneaton.

Gainsborough's Match Preview:

Game Day Two Preview: Ilkeston, away
It's that hectic time of year once again, where fixtures fly at you - thick and fast - Saturday -Tuesday - Saturday. And hot on the heels of our opening day draw against Marine, we have a quick away day double header, travelling to Ilkeston Town on Tuesday night, before the trip to Cheshire on Saturday, to sample the welcome afforded us by Robbie Savage et-al.
Ilkeston Town play on 3G, and finished last season in seventh place, two places outside the play-off spots, but twelve points off Rushall Olympic, who finished in the final play-off position. In their 21 games at home last season, they picked up 33 points, whilst scoring 44 goals – that was an average of just over two goals a game at the New Manor Ground. Winning nine times at home, with six draws and six defeats.
With player turnover, league make up, and many other factors in play, it is difficult to look at the facts, figures and statistics, but a cursory look back at Trinity’s fabulous away record last campaign, that was the best in the league, better than the promoted duo of South Shields and Warrington Town, you have to believe that Bish & Stampy know how they will want to set a side up to go away from home and pick up a positive result.
Whilst the Holy Blues played out a 0-0 draw on opening day, the Robins watched by new boss Gary Hayward, came from behind, to win 3-1 at Marske United's Mount Pleasant Ground, making them one of seven sides with maximum points. How many will remain at 10pm on Tuesday?
Goalkeeper, Matt Yates is the current man between the sticks for our hosts. The popular goalkeeper leaving in the summer after three years at the club, to play his football closer to home.
No supporters coach is travelling for thegame on Tuesday evening, so supporters making the trip to Ilkeston need to fire up their satnav, and use the following details:Ilkeston Town Football Club
New Manor Ground
Awsworth Road
Ilkeston
Derbyshire
DE7 8JF
It’s about 63 miles from the Northolme to the New Manor Ground, and probably worth giving yourself a couple of hours worth of driving time to get there in time for the 7.45pm kick off. With the Summer Holidays in full swing, let’s try and get as many of the Blue Army mobilised as possible, as Bish & Stampy’s side go in search of the first win of the campaign. Admission prices confirmed on the Ilkeston website are as follows:
Adults - £12
Concessions - £8
Students - £8
Under 16s – Free

Follow Online
Those of you unable to travel can tune in and listen along to commentary on Gainsborough Trinity Radio, by clicking on the following link: Live Match Commentary Here. Going live five minutes before the scheduled kick off time of 7.45, to bring you team news and reaction.
We may even be able to land a player that isn't involved to come along and co-commentate (if you're lucky)...

Elsewhere
Elsewhere in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Ashton United will be looking to bounce back from the opening day mauling at newly promoted Workington AFC. They host Basford, returning to the NPL after a brief spell in the Southern Central Division!
Two sides to win their game on the opening day, face off at Neuven Stadium. Radcliffe hosting Lancaster City. Will Morley & Johnson fall at the hands of Fell?  Matlock Town, with their plethora of former Trinity players, travel to Macclesfield, and that also looks an interesting battle, ahead of our game on Saturday. In full, the fixtures read:
Ashton United vs Basford United
Atherton Collieries vs Bradford Park Avenue
Bamber Bridge vs Hyde United
Guiseley AFC vs Whitby Town
Macclesfield vs Matlock Town
Marine vs FC United of Manchester
Morpeth Town vs Workington AFC
Radcliffe vs Lancaster City
Stafford Rangers vs Warrington Rylands
Worksop Town vs Marske United

Whatever happens tomorrow night though, there is still a long way to go in the campaign – and league titles won’t be won and lost in the first seven days of the campaign.

Trinity are having the better of it just now. Chance for Dixon. He tries to place it but the keeper saves. Great Ilkeston move ends with shot going past the far post. Trinity's build up play is better.       0-0.    23 mins
