This must be our sternest test so far. At the start of the season no one would have given us a chance of getting anything from this fixture but now Bet365  think that an Ilkeston win is the most likely result. it's certainly a game that could go either way and most supporters would be delighted with a point.

Re: Tue 22 August 23 : FC United v Ilkeston Town : ko 7 45pm

FC United started the season with a 3-0 home win against Worksop Town but then lost their next two away matches by 5-1 at Marine then 3-2 at Stafford Rangers. Their average attendance last season was 1731and against Worksop it was 1786 so our supporters are going to be massively outnumbered.
Realistically, a point against FCU would be a great result.

I know we're only three matches into the season but this must be one of the best Ilkeston teams and squad that we've had for a long time. The blend is right and the players have gelled so quickly. Massive credit due to chairman Andrew Nally, manager Gary Hayward and coach James Jepson.
What a change from a month ago when things looked bleak.

We go to Broadhurst Park with a dream of making it four wins out of four. That was unthinkable before the season started. FC United haven't made the best start but they're a big team with massive support and they will be desperate to topple the current league leaders. This is going to be a cracking contest.

Tonight we find out if we are as good as our league position after 3 matches might suggest or whether our start to the season was just a flash in the pan. We’ll be playing in front of at least 1500 opposition fans which will be a new experience. There probably will be around a hundred Ilkeston fans who will do their best to make themselves heard and spur on the team.
If we can perform the way we did against Gainsborough and Workington then we have a real chance of pulling off another sensational win. But FC United will be well up for this game, especially as they have not started well.

Here are tonight’s matches in our league:
      Basford v Stafford
      FC United v Ilkeston
      Gainsborough v Guiseley
      Hyde v Marine
      Lancaster v Macclesfield
      Marske v Bamber Bridge
      Matlock v Atherton Colls
      Warrington Rylands v Ashton
      Whitby v Worksop
      Workington v Radcliffe

Bradford Park Avenue played last night against Morpeth. The result was a 2-0 win for Bradford.

Here’s hoping Workington bounce back with a win tonight against Radcliffe. Looking at the other two teams on maximum points, Whitby have a tricky game against Worksop and Macclesfield will be expected to win at Lancaster.

If you want Ilkeston biased match updates here is the place to be from around 7pm tonight.

It's kickoff time and my view at this superb stadium is perfect.
The teams are out .  FCU are in red & white. Ilkeston are in all blue.

We're off....

Really fast start as expected.  Most of the play is in FCU half so far. First shot at goal is by Eratt-Thompson but it's wide. Nice counter attack by FCU.          0-0    8 mins

Big chance for FCU from a cross but Yates punches clear. Tyson shot is brilliantly saved. First time effort by Ennis is just too high.    0-0.    27 mins

Good tackling back by Hallam.   Morris shot for FCU flies over the bar. FCU creating the better chances just now. Shot by Thiam goes into the side netting. Good interception by Cox.      0-0.     38 mins

FCU are looking more likely to score as half time approaches.  Hallam shot is blocked by a defender. Walker gets good cross in but Hallam fires over.    Goal FCU on the break.    Bollado the scorer on 45 mins.
0-1

Ilkeston are having to take risks to try and get a goal back.  Cox header is saved. Final pass is not quite coming off. Wilder knocked over in FCU area but nothing given. Great save by FCU keeper.  Much better fr om Ilkeston      0-1.     72 mins

FCU break and shot hits top of bar.  That's the risk.  Ilkeston are getting some free kicks now to make up for the denied penalty. Hallam free kick goes straight to the keeper.         0-1.    80 mins
