It's gone very dull and the lights are on. Ref accidentally in the way and sets up a Barwell chance.
Brandon beats offside trap but his shot is just wide. What a chance!   30 minutes 1-1.

Brilliant save  by Eve keeps out close range Barwell header. And again Eve repeats his save. Two top class saves by Eve.

Barwell first to attack. Dwyer tangles with defender.  Good chance for Barwell but it goes wide. Ilkeston not yet settled. Eve saves Ilkeston again blocking close range shot.

Re: Barwell v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Dwyer inches wide from Ilkeston break. It looked like it was going in but went the wrong side of the post.

Re: Barwell v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Ryan Head sent off after two seemingly undesrved yellows. The ref's decision for both yellows seem harsh to say the least. Full time and its another narrow defeat.

Re: Barwell v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Ilkeston more than matched Barwell in the first half but Barwell had the better of the second half.  Ilkeston spurned three really good chances; Clarke in the first half and Dwyer and Morris in the second half.  On the other hand Dale Eve made some outstanding saves in both halves to keep Ilkeston in the game.  Atkinson showed some good skills up front but was caught offside too often. He was also needlessly booked for kicking the ball away. One had to have some sympathy for Ryan Head who had a decent game and was most unfortunate to receive two harsh yellows for what seemed trivial offences.  Barwell probably deserved to win for their second half performance but it was a good effort by the Ilkeston team which was recognised by the supporters at full time.

Re: Barwell v Ilkeston - Live Updates

Ilkeston officials were made to wait for an explanation by the referee regarding the sending off of Ryan Head. Apparently the second yellow was for something he saw but others didn't. I'm not saying he was wrong but the first yellow was definitely harsh. Even the Barwell supporters around me said that.
Although away support has diminished somewhat, the ones that still go give magnificent support. No wonder the Ilkeston CEO made sure that the players thanked the fans before they left the pitch. Some of our away supporters took the opportunity of speaking with Nigel Harrop before the game.
