In case you thought we were safe

At present there appears to be five teams battling to avoid the four relegation places. Basford are currently in the final drop position with 19 points from 25 matches. Ilkeston have 33 points from 25 matches so we currently have a cushion of 14 points.  The clubs near the bottom usually start to pick up points in the second half of the season in a bid to avoid relegation so our 14 point cushion may not be enough to guarantee safety. All teams have at least 17 matches to play so nothing is settled. As Alex has said for a long time we need 50 points to ensure safety. That means we need another 17 point from our remaining 17 matches.

These are our remaining matches;
Home matches:
FC United
Basford
Marine
Lancaster
Radcliffe
Hyde
Bradford
Atherton
Morpeth

Away Matches
Worksop
Stafford
Macclesfield
Bamber Bridge
Guiseley
Matlock
Ashton
Warrington

Looking at those fixtures it is going to be tough to pick up 17 points. The away matches look seriously difficult and the home matches don’t look much easier,

We need those 17 points as soon as possible.

Re: In case you thought we were safe

.

In my opinion, Atherton, Bradford and Marske are the most likely teams to be relegated and one other club will join them.
Stafford Rangers and Basford have the means to stay up.

As things stand, Ilkeston will do well to glean any points from their remaining 8 away matches so we have to pick up wins in our home games.

Matches we must win
FC United (H)
Basford.   (H)
Lancaster (H)
Bradford.  (H)
Atherton.  (H)

If we get 15 points from those home matches then we just need a couple more points to reach the magic 50 point target.
