Stafford are having a nightmare season and are in real danger of relegation.
So far they have lost 20 of their 27 matches played. They are 5 points adrift of Basford who occupy the last position of safety.

Their overall record is P27. W5 . D2. L20. F27. A60. Pts17
Their five wins have been against, FC United, Basford, Atherton, Gainsborough and Matlock.Their biggest defeat was 7-2 against Warrington Rylands

Their home record Is : P13. W3. D2. L8. F15. A23. Pts11

Despite their poor season,their average home attendance is ; 616

The two teams met previously on 25th November at the NMG when Ilkeston won by 3-1

Stafford have lost their last three matches. Ilkeston have won their last three matches.

We go into this game as favourites but Stafford are going to be in survival mode.

Apart from Basford, this is our only away journey that we don't travel in a northerly direction. Stafford is one of our shorter journeys and is located slightly south and west of Ilkeston. It's an easy journey for supporters travelling by car so our away support should be greater than normal, especially after three straight wins.

Stafford Rangers have generally struggled since their promotion to the NPL Premier Division at the end of the 2016-17 season

In their first season (2017-18) they finished 14th
2018-19 they also finished 14th
2019-20 they were bottom when covid caused the season to be void
2020-21 they were also bottom when covid caused the season to be void again
2021-22 was their best season when they finished 8th
Last season (2022-23) they finished 12th

Stafford’s draws were against Bradford and Bamber Bridge.
Ilkeston’s draws were against Macclesfield, Ashton and Marine.

That's true but we have recorded only one win against current top ten teams so far. (Worksop)

But hopefully we have now moved on from being a team in transition to a more settled and competent side

And hopefully we will now start to take more points off the leading clubs
