Shaun Goater

Ilkeston have appointed Shaun Goater as manager/head coach replacing Paul Holland who has agreed to stand down after discussions with Nigel Harrop. Goater had an unsuccessful spell as manager of New Mills but has been more successful as a coach in his native Bermuda. He is also I believe the first Ilkeston coach to have an MBE which he received he received for services to youth football development in Bermuda.
Paul Holland has not had the resources to fulfil his potential as a manager at this level and many fell sorry that he has been off loaded at this point in the season when the Robins need a minor miracle to avoid relegation.
If Shaun Goater can avoid relegation he will no doubt justifiably become an Ilson Legend! Most fans just hope for an improvement in results and evidence the the club are building a squad that can regain their Premier Division status at the first attempt.
All of this takes place against a backdrop of rumoured takeovers and the revelation through Companies House that ex Robin Russell Peel owns 30% of Ilkeston FC.
