CLUB CAPTAIN COGILL COMMITS FOR 2024/25
Following hot on the heels of the news that Joe Stacey has joined the Holy Blues permanently following his Alfreton Town departure, we can bring you the news you have all been waiting for. Club Captain, Dylan Cogill has agreed terms and extends his stay at Gainsborough Trinity into a third season. The popular centre back played an important role in the team achieving an excellent finish to the season.
Captaining the side in more than half of his 87 appearances, and chipping in with a number of goals (7), Cogill was a much sought after player, both at this level and above. Having weighed up his options though, there was only one decision for the combative defender, as he explains: "I felt re-signing for Gainsborough was right moving forward! The lads have really bought into Russ and the club, and you can see that with the amount of lads staying."
The responsibility of leading the team was also a key part of Cogill's decision making, insisting: "Being captain is a massive part of that. It's something I’m really enjoying and can’t wait to continue where we left off. Gainsborough is a great club, with amazing volunteers staff and fans."
Dylan issued a rallying call for the Trinity faithful, imploring: "Get behind us for the upcoming year where hopefully it will be a successful one! Up the Blues!"
Speaking about the retention of a key player in the form of skipper, Dylan Cogill, Wilcox expressed his pleasure at keeping his centre half:"I’m delighted that captain Dylan Cogill has agreed to re-sign with us. He’s had interest from other clubs, but he can see what we are striving to achieve at this football club and wants to be a part of it. He played a key role in us achieving an excellent finish to the season. We now have a strong core of that group which hopefully is a real positive moving forward."
