Now corner to Ilkeston after keeper spills the ball.  We have a hold up for Meikle injury. Meikle replaced by Hutchinson.  Great defending by Daniel as FC counter attack.    1-1

Re: Sat 17th Aug : FC United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 3pm

.
The reaction of most supporters was that this was a good point for Ilkeston. FC United created more opportunities to score but most people in the ground were convinced that Ilkeston should have been awarded a penalty for the handling incident. All things considered a draw was probably a fair result and as against Gainsborough, we showed that we can come back after going behind.
In my opinion Jonathan Wafula was outstanding again. He's a player that Deaks can switch to different positions during the game to accommodate his substitution choices. Also worth a mention were Meikle and Walker. Meikle works tirelessly, and he's always in the game. Not everything comes off for Walker but he's got vision and skill in abundance, he's full of ideas and always likely to score. Cursons chased everything and got the goal he deserved which earned us the point. We were lucky that FCU were wasteful in front of goal but it helps to have Yates as our last line of defence, probably the best keeper in the league.

Re: Sat 17th Aug : FC United v Ilkeston Town : Ko 3pm

.
Sat 17th August  2024
Northern Premier League
FC United of Manchester 1  Ilkeston Town 1
A late leveller by Tom Cursons extended Ilkeston’s unbeaten start to the season. FC United’s speedy forwards had created the better chances but they didn’t take them. Ilkeston stayed in the game and got their reward five minutes from time.
Ilkeston created the first opportunity when Callum Minkley headed wide from Jamie Walker’s cross. FC United quickly replied through Jay Fitzmartin’s effort which Matt Yates did really well to turn round the post. Dontai Gabidon then fired wide after cutting inside. Ilkeston hit back with a shot by Walker which keeper Ollie Byrne could only parry. FC United should have gone ahead just before half time when a great block by Yates fell kindly for Declan Evans who fired wide of the gaping goal.
Within four minutes of the restart Evans made up for his miss when he was in the right place to put FC United ahead. Ilkeston hit back with a free kick effort by Tom Marshall which Byrne pushed wide. From the corner Jonathan Wafula's header was on target but Byrne was equal to it. On 65 minutes Ilkeston’s players couldn’t believe they were not given a penalty when FC United defender Joe Ferguson appeared to handle the ball in the area. The feeling of injustice seemed to give Ilkeston a burst of energy and a period of ascendency ended with Lindon Meikle’s effort inches too high. FC United countered with a Jordan Buckley header which glanced off the top of the crossbar before Walker’s header at the other end was inches over the bar. FC United then had a golden chance to seal the game when Adam Le Fondre found Buckley who was only a yard out but he couldn’t find the net. From the clearance, Ilkeston broke down the right and Cursons was there to sweep Wafula’s cross over the line for the equaliser and a draw that felt like a win.

The FC United updates are good in that they are every minute or so.
But as a consequence there is very little detail. And they don't  show the score.
