.
The Whitby match seems to have paled into insignificance following the FA Cup draw, but  it's a match we need to win.

Whitby have also been drawn against National League North opposition. They will be at home to 9th placed Chorley if they can beat Mossley in Tuesday’s  replay.

Whitby's midweek efforts in their replay could give Ilkeston an advantage as we have no midweek match for the first time since the start of the season.

Re: Sat 7th Sep 24. - Ilkeston v Whitby. - Ko 3pm

.
Whitby had a great FA Cup run last season reaching the 1st round proper before losing to Bristol Rovers.
1st QR  : They beat Goole (away) 6-0
2nd QR : They beat Prescott Cables (home). 2-1
3rd QR  : They beat Morpeth (home) 1-0
4th QR  : They beat Chelmsford City  (home) 3-1 after a 2-2 draw (away)
1st round proper  They lost to Bristol Rovers (away) 7-2

The FA Cup run and 11 postponed matches had a detrimental effect on their league position. From looking like playoff contenders they ended the season in 12th position.

It might have had a effect on their league position but they still pulled out pants down twice

I thought we had made a decent start before we lost at Basford. That brought us down to earth with a bump and makes the Whitby match all the more important. We've been below par in the last two games but a win against Whitby would put us back on track.
Whitby lost their FA Cup replay last night against Step 4 side Mossley so they will be looking for a reaction to an unexpected cup exit.

Whitby's manager talks about his team after the FA Cup defeat against Mossley and doesn't sound very optimistic about the upcoming Ilkeston game.

❝At this moment in time, we’re very weak mentally and physically against experienced teams who play direct football and it’s been our undoing.❞

An honest Nathan Haslam reflects further on Tuesday night's #EmiratesFACup disappointment.

Since their 1-0 victory at Warrington Rylands on 17 August Whitby have gone 5 matches without a win

20 Aug.  FC United              (H).  Draw  0-0
24 Aug.  Macclesfield.          (H).   Lost  2-3
26 Aug   Stockton                 (A)    Lost  0-2
31 Aug.  Mossley  (FACup)  (A)   Draw  2-2
03 Sep.  Mossley (FACup)   (H).  Draw  3-3  (Lost on penalties)

Maybe it’s a good time to be playing against them

Re: Sat 7th Sep 24. - Ilkeston v Whitby. - Ko 3pm

It's MATCHDAY again

If we are to make a playoff challenge we need to improve on our home record of last season.

Last season we lost our home fixture against Whitby so a win today gives us a 3 points improvement.

And we need the win because the next three matches couldn't be more difficult : Worksop, Hereford and Hyde

Whitby now looking the more likely to score. Ilkeston free kick in good position but nothing from it. Good run by Doherty but it's an Ilkeston throw.  Brandy does well and the ball flashes across the Whitby goal .

To be fair Whitby don't deserve to be 3 down.  Cursons is hauled down. Stephen Walker is nearly through but is stopped by a combination of Marshall and Minkley.

Half time.  Ilkeston 3 Whitby  0.
