After Tuesday's FA Cup disappointment we travel to Leek Town this Saturday for our 9th league game.

Leek have made a poor start following promotion last season and have lost all four of their home games.
10 Aug Stockton Lost 0-2
20 Aug Mickleover Lost 1-3
24 Aug Gainsborough Lost 1-2
07 Sep Worksop Lost 0-4

They will be desperate to end that run of home defeats so maybe it's not the best time to be going there.

Leek have 8 points from 8 matches with all 8 points coming from away matches (2 wins and 2 draws) and in their last league game they earned a creditable 0-0 away draw against Hyde United.

Last season Leek won the NPL West Division with 78 points from 38 matches, 10 points more than Runcorn Linnets and 11 points more than Prescot Cables who won the playoffs. Leek had the best home record in their league and only lost 3 matches at their ground

Leek’s 78 points was a modest total compared with the other Step 4 promoted teams. Only Biggleswade were promoted as Champions with less points,

Chertsey won the Isthmian League South Central with 100 points for 40 matches
Cray Valley won the Isthmian League South East with 95 points from 38 matches
Spalding won the NPL Midland with 89 points from 38 matches.
Hebburn won the NPL East with 81 points from 38 matches
Wimborne won the Southern League South with 79 points from 36 matches
Lowestoft won the Isthmian League North with 78 points from 36 matches
Leek won the NPL West with 78 points from 38 matches
Biggleswade won the Southern League Central with only 72 points from 36 matches

When Ilkeston won the NPL Midland Division in 2021-22 they scored 87 points from 38 matches

How are we doing? We’ve now played 11 competitive matches won 4, drawn 4 and lost 3.
We’re out of the FA Cup. We’ve slipped to 9th in the league and no wins in our last 3 matches.
Those are the harsh facts and for that reason we really need a good result at Leek.

In terms of recent performances there's nothing to worry about. Against Hereford in the FA Cup we played well in both matches and didn't get what we deserved.

Today is an away day MATCHDAY and the short journey to Leek. There's one Supporters Group bus to the match today which leaves the ground at 10 50 after picking up at Kirk Hallam and the Market Place. We should arrive at Leek around 12 noon.
If you don't normally travel to away matches because of the long journeys, today is a good opportunity to enjoy an away day experience. There should be a good number of supporters making their own way there to get behind the team who played so well in the two FA Cup games against Hereford.

We really should be out of site as Leek look a poor side. Leek have only had the one opportunity and that came as a result of poor defending and not clearing the danger when we had the chance.

We need to take our chances in the second half or we will be throwing away points.
