This is our longest away journey
Workington are currently 14th with a record of P11, W3, D3, L5, GF12, GA15. Points 12
9 of their 12 points have come from home matches
Their home record is: P 6, W2, D3, L1, GF9 , GA7 , Points 9
Workington don't score many goals and don't concede many goals.
They have only lost one of their six home league matches so far. They have beaten Hebburn and Whitby, drawn with Lancaster, Leek and Warrington and lost to Bamber Bridge.

There's no reason why we can't follow up our win at Morpeth with a good result at Workington.
Workington are currently in the bottom half of the table.
They have a decent home record which is a good job because they have lost 4 of their 5 away league games.
However - They will be boosted by having won there last three matches (including Cumberland Cup and FA Trophy)
Sat 21 Sep Whitby (H) won 3-1. NPL
Sat 28 Sep. Mirehouse (A) won 5-0. Cumberland Cup
Sat 05 Oct. Morpeth (H) won 3-1 FA Trophy
It's never easy to win at Workington. Last season we lost at Workington by 4-1 after Luke Cox had given us an early lead.

A win or a draw at Workington on Saturday would put us in the playoff positions as Guiseley (one point above us) aren’t playing.
A win could take us above Ashton United (currently two points above us) who are at home to Worksop.
Saturday 12th October fixtures:
Ashton United v Worksop
Basford v Bamber Bridge
FC United v Lancaster City
Hebburn v Matlock
Leek v Blyth Spartans
Mickleover v Hyde United
Morpeth v Whitby
Warrington Rylands v Stockton
Workington v Ilkeston
Macclesfield and Guiseley are playing in the FA Cup 4th qualifying round
Macclesfield are away to Tamworth
Guiseley are away to Kidderminster Harriers

If we are able to reproduce our Morpeth performance at Workington then there's every possibility of us collecting another 3 points, but of course that's easier said than done. Workington and Morpeth have very similar records with 12 points from 11 matches so on paper we travel there as favourites to win. Our performance at Morpeth was exceptional and we created numerous chances but only scored twice. So at Workington Deaks will be looking for an improvement in converting opportunities into goals.
Workington are only 2 points off a relegation spot so will be desperate to win and they know that they have to pick up as many points as possible from their home games. They rely heavily on points from home games and last season 30 0f their 44 points total came from games at Borough Park.
Despite the 4 hour long journey we will have good support for this match. The early bus leaves at 7 30 am and the later bus leaves at 8 30 am.

This journey may take longer than you think i would say at least 4 1/2 hours but going at 7-30am and 8-30am , hopefully you will be ok. Firstly you have the road works on the M1 which has a 50mph limit which last at least 30 miles or so.. Then there are the road works on the A1 ,, again with a 50mph limit . The A1 is the worst one , every time i have gone up to the lakes its been bad but i have hit it at the wrong times and on a Fri so what with the coaches going early you should be ok ....
The M6 might be the better way especailly with an early start .....
i think in the future i might try and book a weeks holiday in the lakes when we play Workington , but shhhhh dont tell the wife .

It's Match Day No 12 : Workington (away)

Despite what his says on this thread the game does lick off at 3:00pm not 7:45pm. Unfortunately if I wanted to change the title of the thread I would have to copy all the posts, delete the whole thread and then re post it. So don’t go out shopping at 3pm and say I’ll follow the football later!
