Cursons shot is just wide of Bland's outstretched hand. Daniel's cross held by Bland. Then Whitby nearly score. Dixon on a run is fouled right side of area. A few more chances coming in this half. 0-0. 75mins

Match updates
Falling numbers of views on my live match updates has led me to realise that the new young 2 man / 3 man ITFC twitter team are doing a much better job than myself. Their updates are plentiful and far better quality than mine. Plus, they don’t miss things and make mistakes like I do. I have therefore decided that it is no longer necessary to continue my match updates on Whiteball.

Northern Premier League
Whitby Town 0 Ilkeston Town 0
Ilkeston were happy to take a point from a tough game on a heavy pitch at Whitby. The Seasiders came closest to claiming victory when Connor Simpson’s shot from distance landed on the crossbar. Ilkeston’s best effort was from Lindon Meikle’s power drive which was brilliantly tipped round the post by Shane Bland.
After a busy start by Ilkeston, Whitby made the first opportunity when Simpson found Layton Watts with a through ball. Watts tried to lob the ball over Yates but his effort was just too high. On 26 minutes Ilkeston had a chance from a free kick ten yards outside of Whitby’s area after Jordan Stevens was fouled. The pre-arranged routine worked well but Bland saved Connor Dixon’s final effort. Stevens was proving to be a good outlet for Ilkeston and Bland did well to save his fierce cross shot following a good run down the right. On 34 minutes came Simpson’s effort from distance that bounced on the crossbar. Ilkeston were creating very little and were having to defend. George Wilkinson sustained a head injury when bravely heading clear and from the ensuing corner, Simpson’s header was cleared off the line. Aaron Haswell then blasted over the bar from the edge of the area and half time came with Whitby having created the better scoring chances.
Yates did well to block an effort by Nathan Thomas and when the rebound fell to Haswell, he fired over. On 68 minutes Meikle’s 30 yarder brought an outstanding save from Bland and there followed a much better period for Ilkeston going forward. A Tom Cursons volley was pushed wide by Bland then Ilkeston’s striker saw another effort go just wide. In the closing stages either side could have won the game. Whitby’s Lewis Hawkins created space for a shot but Wilkinson made the block. Two minutes from time a great run by Colin Daniel provided a chance for Cursons but Bland made the save, then in added time Whitby could have nicked the points but Yates came to Ilkeston’s rescue with a save from Haswell.

No way don't stop John. I'm not on twitter so I use this platform for updates

Has to be your decision John, whatever's best for you. If it is time for you to move on to the next phase of your enduring passion for ITFC, then I for one would like to thank you for the invaluable match day service you've provided over the years for Ilkeston fans. When not at a game, your match updates have always been the first port of call for me, always ahead of Twitter.

I’ve been told by a few people who are unable to attend matches that they like to follow the match updates on both Twitter and Whiteball but most people now prefer Twitter. I’m 77 and my heath is not so good. I suffer with Parkinsons Disease which is affecting my balance and my hands. I find it difficult to type on very cold days. On top of that my sight is not perfect which is why I make mistakes. Supporters deserve a proper match day service which is accurate and they get that on ITFC Twitter.

A you may be aware John I haven't been for a while because of a certain problem I've had . But when I can't get I have you on white ball , Facebook and flash scores on my laptop. I don't have Twitter hence why I have the others on.
You have done a fantastic job in what you do but I can fully understand why you want to ease off. The information you put on here on match days plus other posts is amazing. You must do what is right for you mate ....

NPL round-up | Saturday 14 December
Macclesfield extended their lead at the top of the Northern Premier League’s top division to 13 points over the weekend, after another dominant display saw them run out 4-1 winners against Stockton Town. Robbie Savage’s side raced out to a 3-1 lead before half-time at the Leasing.com Stadium, before Sean Etaluku’s goal in second-half stoppage time added extra gloss to yet another win - their 17th in 20 league games.
Macclesfield were able to move further clear of second-placed Guiseley, who had to settle for a 1-1 draw at the Project Solar Stadium against Hyde United. Will Longbottom, the league’s top scorer, struck again to cancel out Ewan Bange’s first-half opener. Mark Bower’s Lions are now 11 games unbeaten in the league, but have drawn three of their last four.
Hyde dropped out of the top five with their point, after neighbours Ashton United climbed above them with a 4-1 win at Morpeth Town. The Robins scored three times in the final 20 minutes at Craik Park, with Jason Gilchrist on target twice in the north-east.
Towards the foot of the table, basement side Blyth Spartans completed a remarkable comeback to earn a point at home to Prescot Cables. Ste Daley’s side led 3-1 with two minutes to go, but goals from Cyril Girald and Sam Hodgson denied Cables a first league win since late October.
Michael Connor is still searching for his first win as Blyth boss, with his side drawing three of the last four games. Blyth remain adrift at the bottom of the table, after other sides in the mid-season relegation battle also picked up much-needed points this weekend.
Warrington Rylands picked up their third win in five as they defeated Workington 2-1 at the Hive Arena. Neil Reynolds’ side remain in the bottom four, however, after his former side FC United of Manchester also picked up a 2-1 win away at Basford United. In a game where all the goals came in the second half, Mark Beesley’s side had to come from behind to take all three points, with Matt Grivosti - who followed Beesley to Broadhurst Park from former club Warrington Town - heading home the winner 16 minutes from time. Basford have now lost their last three, and find themselves two points above the relegation zone.
Mickleover slipped into the bottom four following a 2-0 defeat to Matlock Town over the weekend. Gareth Holmes’ side now have only one win in their last 12 league games, whereas Ryan Cresswell’s Matlock side now have been successful in three of their last four games.
Leek Town stay in the bottom four for now, after they were unable to topple promotion-chasing Worksop Town. Goals from Liam Hughes and Luke Hall either side of half-time were enough for the Tigers to seal a routine 2-0 win, as Leek’s winless run was extended to nine games.
Gainsborough Trinity’s incredible form continued this weekend, as they won their fourth straight league game away at Lancaster City. A 2-1 win for Russ Wilcox’s side was enough to see them climb to 16th in the table, and they still have as many as six games in hand on the teams around them.
Elsewhere, Hebburn Town fell to a third straight defeat after Nathan Mercer’s second-half strike secured a 2-1 win for Bamber Bridge at the SFC Stadium.
And the other game of the weekend ended goalless, as nothing could separate Whitby Town and Ilkeston Town. The point did take Whitby into the top 10, however, with Ilkeston remaining fourth.
