Tuesday night we have the opportunity to jump back into the playoff positions when we travel to Hyde United. We are currently one point behind Stockton with 2 games in hand and have a better goal difference.
Hyde are mid table and have drawn 13 of their 28 matches played.
They are currently 9 games without a win, drawing 6 and losing 3.
They have drawn their last 3 matches against Gainsborough (H), FC United (A) and Morpeth (H) all by the same 1-1 scoreline.
Hyde United's home record is: P14, W4, D7, L3, F22, A21, Points 19.
Ilkeston's away record is : P13, W4, D2, L7, F17, A23, Points 14.

What a difference a game makes. Before Saturday's match against Workington I thought we would be lucky to take a point from the Hyde match. I now feel much more confident. I'm not saying that we should win this match because there are no games you can take for granted.
Ilkeston won this seasons home game against Hyde by 3-2 on Tuesday 22nd October with goals by Walker (pen). Daniel and Cursons.
Last season's match at Hyde, which was also on a Tuesday night, we were totally outplayed and lost by 2-0.

This season Hyde are currently 11th (mid-table).
The two previous seasons Hyde United just missed out on the playoffs.
Last season (2023-24) they finished 6th and 3 points off the playoffs behind Worksop.
The season before (2022-23) they also finished 6th this time 2 points off the playoffs behind Matlock.
Their leading scorer is Jack Redshaw who has been Hyde's top scorer for the last 3 seasons.
This season he has scored 16 goals so far.
Last season (2034-24) he scored 15 goals.
The season before that (2022-23) he was joint top scorer with Lewis Alessandra and Matthew Fearnley who each scored 12 goals

Hyde are on of the worse runs of form in the league. The difference between the points tally of the team in the fourth relegation and mid table is very small. That is why you are seeing teams winning a game or two and moving up six or seven places and alternatively losing and dropping like a stone. As a result a lot of teams like Whitby who looked safe at Xmas are now being sucked into a relegation dogfight. If we beat Hyde tomorrow they will be starting to get nervous about the drop themselves.

That is very true . Hyde are in the top half of the table but have only 5 points more than Whitby who are in a relegation position.
Whitby currently occupy the final relegation place on 32 points from 28 games
Any one of the 8 teams above the relegation line ie
Workington (18th) 33 points from 29 matches played
Bamber Bridge (17th) 33 points from 28 matches played
Gainsborough. (16th) 33 points from 26 matches played
Matlock (15th) 34 points from 29 matches played
Leek (14th) 35 points from 29 matches played
Prescot (13th) 35 points from 29 matches played
Lancaster (12th) 37 points from 29 matches played
Hyde (11th) 37 points from 28 matches played
could find themselves dragged into that final relegation position.
For that reason Hyde and all of the other teams shown above will be desperate to win games.

The reason Hyde are not having such a good season is that they have drawn so many games. Draws are no good and I think draws should get no points the same as a defeat. That way every team has to try to win.
If your team is losing it's still worth trying to get an equaliser because if you manage it your opponents get no points instead of three. Just my opinion.

There are three other matches in our league tonight besides ours.
Tonights fixtures:
Bamber Bridge v Workington
Gainsborough v W Rylands
Hyde United v Ilkeston Town
Lancaster v Prescot Cables
Every match is an important one for Ilkeston now in their pursuit of a playoff place.
There’s a vital basement battle between Bamber Bridge and Workington, They’re both on 33 points, just one point above the drop zone.
Gainsborough are also on 33 points (but with games in hand) and they face in-form Warrington Rylands. Rylands have won their last 5 matches and are threatening to challenge for a playoff spot so we could do with a Gainsborough win or draw.
The other game is a mid table clash between Lancaster and Prescot Cables. Lancaster have drawn 9 of their 15 home matches. Prescot have only won 3 of their 14 away games.

Good on Ilkeston... Exeter also one up! (My son's a Ram, so sorry Forest fans...). I'm also not Plymouth Argyle - but if Truro cant progress (on behalf of WB), then two Devon teams in in next round would definately be unique. (I stand to told that's not the case, but surely it would be so...).
