Club Announcement
After the difficult 7/8months the club has had, the volunteers and staff of Walsall Wood FC have been working hard in the background to get things moving forward towards a brighter future. We are aware we are far away from
where we should be, but we will rise again!
We can confirm our acceptance to restart 1st Team football with Midlands Football League Div3! Thank you to the Volunteers and Staff who have worked tirelessly to make things happen!
Let's get back to enjoying 1st Team football!
The Midlands Football League Division Three is at Step 8 in the English football league system. The Midland Football League operates four divisions, with Premier Division at Step 5, Division One at Step 6, Division Two at Step 7, and Division Three at Step 8.
Not long ago Walsall Wood were our biggest rivals when we were both playing in the Midland Football League. Ilkeston are now playing at Step 3 and Walsall Wood are Step 8

Went to the away game when it was 1st v 2nd, we won maybe 3-1 from memory, a tough game on a hard pitch as I remember. They went on to win the league and we were 2nd.Only one going up though but we went up because Heanor took voluntary relegation.
I might have got it totally wrong though.
Anyway at the game some well dressed couples ( I assume they were sponsors or directors) were overhead discussing the finances and disquiet within the club and it was not good and that was how many years ago.

I don’t know the people who ran Walsall but they were in trouble during COVID for using their clubhouse during the lockdown. On one occasion the people raided the club to find customers hiding under the tables. Obviously very embarrassing for the club.

You're correct about us getting promoted after finishing 2nd due to Heanor Town dropping out of the league above.
For some reason I missed that match but we won by 4-1 and were the only team to win at Walsall Wood's ground.
It was the penultimate game of the 2017-18 season played on Tuesday 24 April 2018.
