Re: Derbyshire Cup

Anyone else remember when Gresley won the Southern Premier League... and were denied promotion because of their Moat Ground? (A ground I recall well...and liked going to. Narrow spaces and houses close by on two side).

Best not mention what team profitted - but I'm still very happy to report Gloucester City were beaten into third in the process...

On the subject of grounds... I first met Whiteball at the 'Manor Ground' - the old veledrome and venue for the origin of this site's name. Nearby, the Rutand Hotel... home of Ilkeston 'Spa'... Also, in my mind at least, I'd like to think I made a pub-bar contribution to the naming of the 'New Manor Ground'... The background. Being a regular in the Rutland Cottage PH - and the landlord being mates with Mr Millership... Then, as a historian, I explained it's not great to change the name (was it Awsworth Washmeadow?). In this case I justified it by making this same point - BUT I was anti the move, so it was all about an ITFC supporter connection and continuity. Can you recall... that post Kenny Burns team was still pulling up trees...Scunthorpe in the FA Cup anyone?

The 1990s was a great ITFC era.
