FC United are having their best season since the 2019-20 COVID disrupted season when they were 2nd when the season was ended prematurely.
This season they are currently 3rd with 6 points less than Hednesford but with 2 games in hand.
At home ,they’ve only lost once and conceded only 3 goals. The defeat was in their last home game against Warrington Rylands
FC United overall record P16. W9. D3. L4. F21. A12. Pts 30
FC United home record P. 8. W6. D1. L1. F13. A 3. Pts 19

I went down to the ground this morning and there is a real despondency ahead of the FC United match. Losing to Stocksbridge was a massive eye opener and there is realisation that the position we are in, is self inflicted.
It looks like the team we are going to be able to put out at Manchester is going to include several non regulars due to injuries and suspensions. That doesn't mean we have no chance but not many supporters will be hopeful of a result.
Another defeat will put massive pressure on Ian Deakin when he returns from suspension.

I really hope that whatever team we put out on Saturday, they can produce a performance to be proud of whatever the result. Stocksbridge showed last Saturday that if you battle for everything, (without getting sent off) then it’s possible to get a result. The run of four successive defeats needs to be halted. Obviously FC United away is not an easy place to do it but we are at a crossroads. The last two defeats were embarrassing. although the 0-5 defeat at Hebburn doesn’t look quite so bad now after they hit four past Gainsborough last night and before that they hit eight past Warrington.
There will probably be getting on for 100 Ilkeston supporters at Broadhurst Park so come on Craig Swinscoe, gee up the team and give us something to cheer. A lot depends on this performance so it’s crucial that we don’t come away humiliated. A win changes everything and a draw would be a positive result. So much depends on this match.

I don’t think that we’ve had a win on this ground
FC's average Saturday attendance this season is 1786.

Based on Alex’s post above, 4 doubtful starters and only 2 outfield subs.
Need to revert to Keith Alexander tactics, get 5 loanees in for 2 or 3 games and then if need be get another batch in and so on .
Must be some out there that we can get in on duel registration to get us out of the shit

It doesn’t look like any signings are possible before the FC United match so we’ll just have to go with what we’ve got. The players will give their all as they always do.
Those supporters who travel on the team bus know that the players and management really do care. In victory and defeat we see their after-match mood and injuries suffered in persuit of a positive result.

It’s not normal for Ilkeston supporters to be pessimistic before a game but I can’t remember another match approached with such a feeling of foreboding.
The last two results, injuries and suspensions have left us in a very vulnerable state.
But "Cometh the hour, cometh the man”. Saturday night we may have a hero.

I told Lady WhiteBall that Ilkeston are in a similar position to Liverpool in terms of their current form and Ian Deakin and Arnie Slot have a lot in common. She started laughing at this stage so I decided to change the topic of conversation to Christmas shopping in Morpeth. Anyway despite the sun shining in Alnwick it’s throwing it down in Morpeth and I'm still worried about tomorrow’s game against FCUM!
