    Sat 13 Dec 25 : Ilkeston v Hednesford : NMG ko 3pm

    After a blank Whitby weekend and results going against us we find ourselves just one point off the relegation positions. Our opponents, free spending Hednesford, are three points clear at top of the league and are seven games unbeaten. So our chances of getting any thing from this game look somewhat bleak. It couldn’t be a tougher league return for manager Ian Deakin but maybe some of our injured players will be now be available. 

    Hednesford are in top spot mainly because of their home record. Their away record is not quite as good with three defeats on the road against Prescot, Morpeth,and Whitby.

    We were so unlucky to lose at Hednesford earlier in the season so Lady Luck just might tip the scales of justice in our favour this time.

    Tomorrow could be our biggest gate so far this season with Hednesford expected to bring plenty of fans to the NMG. It’s an important game for both teams who are at opposite ends of the table. Hednesford are on the crest of a wave and are seven games unbeaten after losing to Stockton on 28th October.  

    01 Nov  Guiseley           A.   Won 5-1
    08 Nov  Stocksbridge    H.   Won 2-0
    11 Nov  Hyde Utd          H.   Won 2-1
    18 Nov  BamberBridge. H.   Won 3-0
    22 Nov. Cleethorpes.     H.   Won 1-0

    06 Dec  W Rylands        H.  Draw 1-1. 

    So its going to take a monumental effort to get anything from this match. But the players will be up for it and any result is possible with a fair wind and a bit of luck.

    It’s another MATCH DAY and it could be a big crowd although we’re not sure how many are coming from Hednesford. 

    If you’re coming by car its advisable to come early to get a place in our shrinking car park.

    Ten minutes to kickoff. it;s sunny but cold .  The ground looks pretty empty but I’m told that the clubhouse is packed. We’ll see how full the ground looks at kickoff time.

    Out they come Ilk in red Hed in light blue. 

    its a very poor gate for the visit of the league leaders. between 300 and 400 I would guess.

    Ilk start by attacking the car park end.

    Mistake by ref goes Hednesford's way as Ilkeston denied a chance for Kirby-Moore   .I think he thought it was offside but lino kept hs flag down.

    I don’t think Breeden has had a shot to save. Swift Hednesford counter attack nearly brings a 3rd goal. Gibson shot kick off the line by Walker following a corner.  Then Rose fires over from close range.
