For 2017-18 season, 32 grassroots leagues are to trial temporary dismissals more commonly known as sin bins. The trial is being applied from Step 7 and below. The FA have chosen to use the temporary dismissals system for the offence of dissent which amounted to 25% of all cautions in the 2016-17 season.
It is anticipated that the pilot scheme will deal with misconduct on the day resulting in fewer cautions for dissent overall and improve the match day experience not only for referees but for all involved in the game.
The 32 leagues selected by the FA include two local leagues; Nottinghamshire Senior Football League and Notts. Amateur Alliance.

Sounds a good idea but a nightmare for the refs to administer. Some of the ones we had at Step3 would struggle to keep on top of a sin bin system! Plus you might need bigger dugouts and extra timekeepers. Perhaps a special cons table might be roped in to keep order! I always believed we should copy and penalise all descent with a ten yard penalty. It would soon cut it out. Nottingham Forest under hardly ever showed descent and it did them no harm. I suppose they left all the descent to Cloughie!
