Internet willing there will be regular match updates of Ilkeston Towns historic first league game against Uttoxeter Town. Many local pundits think the Robins squad will be far too strong for the majority of teams in the Midland Football League Division One but pundits have been wrong before. However it does put an extra pressure oh Ilkeston Town to hit the ground running. Myself I am just pleased and I must say still surprised that we are watching an Ilkeston team at all for it was only a month ago I was deciding on whether to watch Heanor or Alfreton Town this season!
Anyway it is going to be a big day for all concerned!

Thanks for updates John. Sorry I didn't make it. I left St Ives, Cornwall at 7 o'clock this morning in a bid to get back for the game but long motorway holdups thwarted my efforts. What a show of support by Ilkeston fans and a deserved first point for the team by all accounts.

A bit of a wake up call for Ilkeston really. Thoughts that teams would roll over and let us win were dismissed early on. Uttoxeter were well organised and defended resolutely after taking an early lead against the run of play! On a positive note next weeks opponents Heath Hayes drew 5-5 with Lichfield City so hopefully there defence it was not as watertight as . Excellent support from the Ilkeston fans many not seen at Ilkeston games for years.
