Re: Deaks has Left Ilkeston

Thanks for your efforts Deaks and staff, but I think it’s time for a change, this season has been stale and the squad needs a big refresh.

As ever management and players come and go but we the supporters are here for the long haul.

Do we now wait for applications or has Andy already got someone lined up ?

Re: Deaks has Left Ilkeston

Sad to see Deaks go as I always found him a friendly and warm person. Hopefully the powers that be are making decisions that are in the Football Clubs best interests. It would appear that the time was right for Ian and the club to have a break. It will be interesting to see what other changes will happen as a result as a result of Ian and the club parting ways.
I will always look back at the good times that Ian bought to Ilkeston since he played for the club in its first season after reformation in 2017.  Whatever Ian does next it will no doubt be a roller coaster ride. All the best Deaks and thanks!

.
So pleased that Deaks was able to sign off with a win. Deaks is a genuine football man who wears his heart on his sleeve. As a manager he had the ability to make players believe in their ability and he got the best out of them.  Good luck to the new manager whoever he may be.

I'm with you this. Deaks is a top bloke and a good manager but a team which he has built 11 reds 76 yellows and a 7 game stadium ban isn't going to win leagues

New manager

We’ve already had some genuine interest shown without us officially inviting applications.

Re: Deaks has Left Ilkeston

Ilkeston Town Manager.... there should be loads of applicants! The mixed recent history is one thing...the potential (we know about) is the other.

I’m sure you will appreciate that names of applicants must be kept confidential but at least 3 intriguing prospects

Ilkeston Town announce departure of Ian Deakin

Ilkeston Town have announced that they have parted company with manager Ian Deakin by mutual consent. Deakin leaves the club having first taken charge in September 2023. Over the past three seasons, he has led the Robins to two solid mid-table finishes at Step 3, either side of a 2024/25 campaign which saw them finish sixth in the division, just three points adrift of the play-offs. Deakin took to social media to confirm his intention to step away from the role, less than an hour after they had defeated FC United of Manchester 3-2 on the final day of the season. In a short statement, he said he was "immensely proud" to have managed the club. Ilkeston confirmed on Sunday morning that Deakin and his coaching team had departed the club, saying: "The team leave on a high, having secured victory in the Derbyshire Senior Cup on Tuesday and victory against promotion-chasing FC United of Manchester in the final NPL game of the season. “The new manager recruitment process starts now, in what will be an exciting summer as we build for the 26/27 season.”

When choosing Ian Deakin's successor, do we go for a big name player manager or a person with loads of non league experience? Do we make an appointment quickly or wait to see which league we’re in?

The quicker the appointment the less chance of us losing key players to other clubs.

On the other hand, better to take time and get the best person for the job.
