years gone by

nothing to do with ilson as now but i was just looking at the teams we played when we started as Ilkeston FC . Just look at the teams now and be glad how we have progressed .Click on the link below , how many teams can you remember when we were ilson fc ????

For my sins, I hitched with three other guys to watch York City play at Dudley Town (FA Cup) in the late 1970s. From memory, Northwich Victoria used to be one of the best non-league sides in and around the same era... Runcorn too have had their moments (unless, maybe, there are two Runcorns?).

Would I be right in thinking that Ilkeston (in different guises) have also played Sporting Khasala a few times over the more recent years?  These tables make a good read now though... Interesting post. Thanks.

wasnt it Northwich Victoria we palyed in a cup match ? really good ground but they went bust so it got bulldozed

I remember that game. Walsall Wood thought that they’d won the league after beating us because that win put them level with us on points and they had a better goal difference. But we finished the season with two high scoring wins and snatched the title.

yeah they did think they would win the league ..... But we were well beaten by them home in front of a big crowd
