Re: Tue 29 Sep 26 : Ilkeston v Warrington Rylands : NMG ko 7 45pm

Nothing from it.  Pilling is  annoying the Ilkeston fans with his time wasting. We’re well into added time.

Full time and another defeat.  Disappointing second half.

Re: Tue 29 Sep 26 : Ilkeston v Warrington Rylands : NMG ko 7 45pm

My opinion
A much better performance in the first half. Defensively we looked much stronger with Omoregbee and Pharrell Johnson complementing each other. The two full backs were reasonably sound and new lad Cohen Lee did well in midfield. We created a few opportunities but weren’t prepared to have shot at goal.  With a choice of pass or shoot we always chose to pass. Rylands created far better scoring chances but we got to half time 0-0.
Second half Rylands started strongly . Once they scored our confidence started to drain away. When Lee went off injured, that was the end of our chances of rescuing a point. Hunter did his best but we never looked like scoring simply because we never gave Plling anything to save. So it was an improved performance but not of a good enough standard to stay in this league. We got what we deserved - another defeat.

My opinion

LV - offers nothing, flits in and out of games, more out than in.
Daniels - just along for the ride .

New centre half had a good game along side Johnson.

Yaya likes pushing forward but often gets caught in possession.

First half was the best I’ve seen this season, they played like they knew each other, second half reverted to booting long balls up front which came straight back and kept the pressure on us.

We were very wasteful with corners and free kicks.

Ash - is he carrying an injury, seemed to be concerned with the back of his right leg.

Based on last night let’s see if this first half improvement can be carried into  the next game, .

Maybe the gun has been loaded, but the finger is not yet on the trigger.

You’re right about the free kicks and corners. The times that Hunter’s corners sailed over everyone was ridiculous.  It kept happening so why wasn’t someone prepared for that outcome? You could see that Ash was getting frustrated.

.Tue 29th Sep 2026
Northern Premier League
Ilkeston Town 0 Warrington Rylands 1
The re-arranged fixture with Warrington Rylands ended in another defeat despite a much improved Ilkeston performance. Defender, Jessie Omoregbee, on loan from Boston United, had an impressive debut. The Robins were noticeably better in the first half and deserved to be level at half time but a second half goal by Harrison Wood sealed their fate.
The first half was a good watch with both teams trying to attack. Sam Wilson had to make an early save before Ilkeston quickly replied when Will Grewal-Pollard set up a chance for Ash Hunter, all inside the first few minutes. Rylands were looking the more dangerous but Omoregbee and Pharrell Johnson quickly formed an effective defensive barrier. Both side saw shots touch the top of the crossbar. Rylands created the better opportunities but Ilkeston in turn produced some good attacking moves but were guilty of not having a go when a chance presented itself. Nevertheless the mood on the terraces was optimistic at half time.
Unfortunately Ilkeston’s second half performance didn’t match that of the first half and when Wood gave Rylands the lead, momentum swung their way. They were soon close to adding another when a misplaced pass gifted an opportunity to Calum Costello but Wilson somehow  managed to block his shot. Sonny Davis had a chance for Ilkeston but his effort was diverted wide by a defender. Wilson twice denied Costello as Rylands looked to increase their lead. With time running out Ilkeston pushed for a leveller and Rylands had to survive some late pressure when Ilkeston saw three shots blocked in quick succession. But in the end Rylands deservedly took the points.
Although a better performance it was Ilkeston’s 10th game without a win and the inevitable result was a Club Statement saying that Tris Whitman and Aaron Large had been relieved of their duties.
