There probably won't be any upsets for the six contenders before Sat 25th November. That date sees the clash between Atherstone and Walsall Wood when one or both of them must drop points. As things stand Ilkeston have only 3 fixtures in December but one of them is crucial. The one on Sat December 9th Home to Walsall Wood.

Walsall Wood's next four league matches are:
Sat 18 Nov Heath Hayes (away)
Sat 25 Nov ATHERSTONE (away)
Sat 09 Dec ILKESTON (away)
Sat 16 Dec LEICESTER ROAD (home)
If they take maximum points from these 4 games then it looks pretty certain that no team will catch them. On the other hand 3 defeats would make the title race very interesting.

Walsall Wood are on fire!
Walsall Wood WWWWWWLWWWDWWW
Above is there form record so far.
Ilkeston Town DLWLDWWDWLWLWWWWW
But this is Ilkeston's and as you can see we have a better record over the last five games.
The December 9th fixture is such a massive game for both teams. That is why we need a massive, noisy and volatile crowd to unsettle Walsall Wood. i think we have played them before when we were in the West Midlands League. i will dig that one out later!

Ilkeston v Walsall Wood is the most important game so far for ilkeston Town fc. It would be fantastic if we could get a one thousand plus gate to help the team. We need any advantage we can get so hopefully the Club will come up with some sort of promotional offer to encourage a big attendance.

Third from bottom Brocton did Ilkeston a massive favour today by holding Studley to a draw. Studley's slip has cost them the top spot in the league table. They are now level with Walsall Wood on 40 points but Walsall Wood have a far superior goal difference and have 3 games in hand. Brocton have a chance to do Ilkeston a second favour on Tuesday night when they face Leicester Road. Ilkeston also play on Tuesday night and if they win at Bolehall they can go within one point of the leading pair.
After today's match I spoke with the referee. I asked him if he had refereed any of Walsall Wood's matches. He said he had indeed refereed them once this season. He confirmed what we assumed ie. that Walsall Wood are a very good side. I asked him how we compared with them. His answer was that he thought that it would be a cracking game between two excellent footballing sides and he wouldn't like to predict the result.
