This Saturday 13th Jan : we're home to Atherstone
The following Saturday 20th Jan : we're away to Walsall Wood
If we're to maintain our hopes of winning the league then we really have to win both of these games.
A defeat or draw against Atherstone would be a major setback
Anything but a win against Walsall Wood would mean that our chances of catching them would be remote
Let's start with a morale boosting win against the Adders in front of a 800 gate, then take a hundred and fifty fans to Walsall and give it our best shot.

On Saturday 13th January Walsall Wood play against Studley. If Studley were to win and we beat Atherstone, we would travel to Walsall Wood the following week with the incentive of knowing that if we beat them then we will reduce the points dropped deficit to just one point . ie Walsall Wood will then have dropped 17 points compared to our 18 points.

We can't afford any slip ups because Walsall Wood probably have the easiest fixtures between now and the end of the season. They have already played their away fixtures at Hinckley, Leicester Road, RC Warwick, Atherstone and Ilkeston.
The only top seven team they still have to play away at is Studley.
They still have to play at home against Studley, Ilkeston , RC Warwick and Leicester Road.
The only other two matches I think they possibly may not win are Littleton away and Heather St Johns away.

Im hoping Walsall Wood will get complacent and think they've already won it! I like it better when they are at the top and we are chasing them rather than the other way round. It will be interesting how our 3-2 win effected them, It was the first time I think that they had took the lead and then been pegged back. We did it twice and then went on to beat them. They also looked rattled by a team constantly attacking them. I presume it has not happened very often this season. I think I am more worried about RC Warwick their form is as good as ours!

It's true that Racing Club Warwick have won their last nine league games including a 1-0 win against Atherstone on Saturday.
Although we have dropped three points more than RC Warwick, we still have to play against them twice so it's in our own hands to finish above them.
In the case of Walsall Wood : It's not in our own hands, for us to finish above them we need other teams to take points off them
Racing Club Warwick have only conceded four goals in their nine game unbeaten run which points to them having a good defence. Having said that, apart from Atherstone in their last match, their victories have been agaist the weaker sides :
Atherstone (H) 1-0
Pershore (A) 5-0
Heath Hayes (H) 3-1
Chelmsley (A) 3-0
Stafford (A) 3-1
Bolehall (H) 3-0
Nuneaton G (H) 5-0
Paget (A) 4-0
Uttoxeter (H) 3-2

Ok so tomorrow we need to beat Atherstone and if Studley can beat or hold Walsall Wood to a draw that would be brilliant. I'd prefer a Studley win but can't see that happening. On Tuesday night Atherstone are away to Hinckley. Both teams could drop points in that one. Next Saturday is our biggest test; Walsall Wood away. Also next Saturday Leicester Road are home to Littleton and could drop points in that one and Racing Club Warwick are home to Studley and again both could drop points.
So I'm hoping for us to win and for drawn games when our rivals meet :
Sat 13th Jan
Ilkeston v Atherstone - Ilkeston win and Atherstone drop 3 points
Walsall Wood v Studley - Draw : Walsall Wood and Studley both drop 2 points
Tue 16th Jan
Hinckley v Atherstone - Draw : Hinckley and Atherstone both drop 2 points
Sat 20th Jan
Leicester Road v Littleton - Draw : Leicester Road drop two points
R C Warwick v Studley - Draw : R C Warwick and Studley both drop 2 points
Walsall Wood v Ilkeston - Ilkeston win and Walsall Wood drop 3 points

We lost to Atherstone and Walsall Wood crushed Studley 7-0. Both results were a severe blow to our chances of finishing in the top spot.
We now must look to the Saturday 20th January fixtures for something to go right and keep our hopes alive.
We have to beat Walsall Wood or our promotion hopes are virtually gone.
If we do pull off an amazing win at Walsall Wood then wins for Littleton at Leicester Road and for Studley at R C Warwick would make our day complete.
