I'm at the ground and so far the game is on. The match officials are happy with the pitch at present but supporters are not being allowed in for the time being. We've just had a snow flurry which was not what we wanted but it s now eased off. I've just heard that they are now going to open the turnstiles so it looks promising.

Tonight's ref said that as long as they can see the touch lines, goal lines and penalty areas then they are happy to give the game the go ahead. So unless there is a heavy fall of snow before kick off it's game on.

The pitch has been covered so the surface is not frozen. The pitch is fine as long as the officials can see the lines. To repeat : the officials are happy to play as things stand. It's now stopped snowing and there's 50 minutes to kickoff.

In snowy conditions Ilkeston came close to matching their Conference North neighbours but a double from Brendon Daniels proved to be the difference. Both teams mastered the conditions surprisingly well and it was a fast moving game throughout. Ilkeston defended well and deserved to be level at half time but two goals in quick succession half way through the second half saw Alfreton through to the final. Ilkeston had their chances but there was no way past the excellent Johansson in the Alfreton goal. It was a very decent performance by the Robins against a good Alfreton side. Ilkeston never accepted defeat and fought to the end. Despite doubts about the game going ahead, there was a terrific turnout by our travelling fans who braved the snow and freezing temperature to support their team.
