Nick Hawkins - what a player !

Then gone on to be: Owner at Nuneaton Borough,  CEO at @ilkestontown_fc  & now Sporting Director at Alfreton Town.    Also well worth a listen to his @GrassrootsGoss1 episode -

Russ Peel (@russellpeel) - Good player in his day & good bloke too! Had a long career at @ShepshedDynamo, @ilkestontown_fc, Eastwood Town, @QuornAFC, @BelperTownFC, @GresleyRovers, Chasetown, Grantham Town, Bedworth Utd, @LongEatonUnited & Dunkirk.

Paul Skillington @PaulSkillington   I’ll tell you what .... When Ilkeston was on its arse, and I mean hours from extinction, up stepped Peely. Magically got us a generator to run the flood lights and chucked in tens of thousands of pounds, of his own money to bail us out the shit. The man is a legend.

Well said Paul, That's the truth

Re: The Local Soul of Football

I don't know if he knows but we do really appreciate the attempts he made to save football in Ilkeston. He will always be a legend in Ilkeston as he stood by us when many others turned their backs on us.

Re: The Local Soul of Football

I know Skillo tells him a lot but it would be good if more fans said the same things. But I am not sure most fans know tbh.

Re: The Local Soul of Football

Will he fire Ilkeston Town to promotion? Not on his own but he will (if he is selected) at least ten talented individuals around him who all expect to be in contention at the end of the season! To win we must get back that winning mentality!
